The 1891 Census shows Ruth O B Smith, born 1849, Brighton, residing in Birchington,Kent, a widow. Arthur Ashton was head of the household, included also was the adopted daughter, Kathleen Pull, born 1876 and Walter O Smith born 1865. In the 1881 census Ruth was living in Chiswick, Middlesex. Is this the same Ruth Meyrick born about 1849 in Brighton, of parents, William and Mary? Grandmother,who I suspect is Kathleen (above) on her Canadian marriage certificate records her parents as Arthur Ashton and Ruth Meyrick. We do not know the year when Kathleen was adopted officially, or just taken in. Any information regarding members of the above household would be most appreciated. Thank you, Frances Vanin
