Please can anyone help find Daniel DIMENT and wife Grace
possibly in SYMONDSBURY they would be in their 60s

I too have checked the 1851, if this is the Daniel Dimont to Grace Trevett 1795 they would be in their 70's if still alive. I will try to check 1841. Could not find their son Daniel( 1796 )but plenty of David's but not born 1803. Do you have any more sons names and ages as I will check them to see if they are living with them. Only one in Symondsbury in 1851 is James Dumant aged 15.

I have had the following info sent to me for you fro Pete H.
In the Criminal Register Index, there is a Daniel Diment who was convicted of Highway Robbery at the 1824 summer Dorset Assize and sentenced to Death .... and was Reprieved on appeal ..... I assume this would have been commuted to transportation for life.

There is also a record of a David Diment who was convicted of Larceny in the 1823 January session and sentenced to 3 months in jail

In 1841 there's a Grace Diment in HO 107/221/123 f23 p40, living in Great Torrington, Devon. Do you think this is her?
