Surnames: McDermott & Davis
Catherine McDermott & Richard Davis were married in Ayre in 1876 and I believe that they are my gt gt gt grandparents.
Family legend has it that Catherine McDermott eloped with Richard to get married. If this is them can anyone tell me if there is any significance in their being married in Ayre? Is it possible that they may have travelled to Ayre to get married?
Would appreciate any local input on this.
