Sardis Baptist Church in Rayle, GA (Wilkes County) has a memorial monument in memory of James Spratlin and Mary Appling Spratlin, my wife's ancestors. Does anyone know where they are buried? I would also like to know who Mary Appling's parents were and if she is related to Joel Appling and his wife Mary Hamner Strange. A grandchild of James and Mary Spratlin, James Spratlin married Martha Callaway, daughter of Enoch Callaway. Their son James Mell Spratlin married Rosa Clifton Wootten. I am also interested in her ancestors (parents, Dr. William Henry Wootten and his wife, Elizabeth Whitehead Taylor and grandparents, Benjamin Wootten and Eliza Callaway.) Any help is these matters will be appreciated.
