From: "Notes on Kentucky Veterans Of The War Of 1812," by G. Glenn Clift, published by Borderland Books, Anchorage, Kentucky, 1964. These notes were gathered by the author in the course of research for a book about the River Raisin Massacre January 18-23, 1813, from newspaper files, county pension lists, county histories, cemetery and other local records.

"SPROUL, ALEXANDER. Cumberland County. Served in Capt. William Woods' Company of volunteers from Cumberland; was thought to have served in the Revolution. He died in service in 1814. Clinton County Pension List."
