Classification: Query
Surnames: Dodds, Pitts, Goddard, Seever, Evans
John Pitts b approx 1773 and Susanah "Sukey" Goddard married Dec 21, 1797.
Their children as I know it were Mary, Hannah, Nancy, William, Sarah'Sally', and Susanna 'Sukey' Pitts.
Hannah Pitts married Jesse Evans March 30, 1826 in Fleming County and their children as I know it were James T. , Will, and Mary Eliza b. April 5th, 1831
Sarah Pitts married George Washinton Seever Dec 17, 1832 in Fleming County and they produced Elizabeth, James, John, and last, but not least in my book 'Mollie' 'Maude' Mary Margaret b.Dec 13, 1841
All very wonderful to here, Mary Evans and Mary Pitts were cousins.....
Along comes my GGGrandfather, James E. Dodds. We know not from where he came, or where his parents were from either. He was born Jan 22, 1825.
James and Mary Eliza were married December 9, 1847. The exact location is not known to me but likely in Fleming County, however their union produced Virginia, Moses, Charles, William, Jesse, Hattie, Lucy, Frankie, Gertrude, Minnie and Motie. Charles, William, Jesse (my GGrandfather), Hattie, Minnie, and Motie all survived.
But then Mary Eliza died August 22, 1872 at 41, and left James E. with all these children, the youngest born in the same year as her death.
Well James E. then married Mary Eliza's cousin, Mary Seever, May 6, 1873 only eight months after his first wife's death, and began another family 9 1/2 months later. This union produced Anna, Mary E. and Bennie Dodds.
The family then upped and moved to Kidder County, in Missouri and spread from there to Alaska, California, Colorado, and even here, into British Columbia, Canada.
If anyone can produce information about James E. Dodds, his origins, or would like to share what they know about any of the connections or offspring, it would be great to hear from you. Mike Dodds
