Ezekiel Edens appears on the 1844 Graves Co., Ky. tax list; in 1845, James G. Edens, administrator of E. Edens, deceased, is on the tax list. I don't have the exact dates those tax lists were compiled, but the lists were usually dated mid-year.

Any idea on the birth year of Thomas Goin?

I've been researching the Gibson Family here in Graves County and found a Thomas Goin born abt. 1836 who was the son of Joseph Goin & Martha E. "Patsy" Ray Gibson.
From the best i can tell Joseph & Martha were married August 04, 1830 in Todd County, KY and had three kids,
Mary M. Elizabeth Goin b. August 12, 1832, Henry C. Goin b. 1834, then Thomas. By 1840 they where in Graves County.

I've not gotten any further on the Goin boys, but i know Mary married George Henry Price and had a big family. After Joseph's death Bet. 1836 - 1840 Martha remarried a Mr. John D. Clusterman. They're buried in Pryorsburg in the old Bethel Church Cemetery.

It is good to hear from you Jane - yes I am sure we are cousins - You being decended from David Nelson and I am decended from J. Pleasant. I think John Wesley Polston (born 1858)was the son of John Mack and Martha Darks - John married a Lucinda and they had a son John W born 1885 and they were living in Farmington, MO which makes sense since John Mack died in a Civil War hospital and Martha died soon after leaving 3 children. It is very likly that Martha went to be with her husband since there seems to be no further record of her or of the children in Mississippi county. There were 2 other girls, Frances who married a Woodward and had 14 children living in Farmington, Mo around the same time. The other girl, Calondia I can't find.

The father to J Pleasant, David Nelson, John Mack and Camie is John (I'm pretty sure) he would have been born around 1798. Would that be the John you referred to in Marshall Cty Ga? We have been told that only the mother came with the four boys - I have assumed he was dead. Their mother was 80 years old when she died in 1866 in Mississippi Cty, Mo. What has always puzzled me is supposedly the Polston's came from Alabama in 1854 yet I found J. Pleasant Polston and Caroline Fowler living in Hickman, Ky (just across the river from where the Polstons settled) on the 1850 census record - they had two sons. There is no record of them further. I know that J. Pleasant married Caroline Smith (my great grand parents) in 1857 in Mississippi Co, MO. Daniel Wade Polston (son of J. Pleasant) wrote a history of the Polston's coming to Mo - if you don't have that I will make a copy and send it to you.

Camie and John Mack signed up for the Union Army - John Mack dying in an army hospital and Camie never came back and it was assumed that he was killled and lost to history. I have a picture that I will attempt to download for you.

Francis, I saw the information on Pleasant Polston. My great grandfather was David Nelson Polston to William Nelson Polston to Meredith Milton Polston to me. I, too, have been hunting for the Polston family. I have been to Alabama several times and found Pleasant's marriage to Catherine Fowler in Morgan Co. The next county over is Marshall Co. and there I found 2 Polston's. William Polston married Eliza Merrell(Cherokee Indian) and John Polston. John in 1850 had a daughter, Nancy, living in the houehold. In the next few census records, John was living with different families. The last being Sarah Bright(Cherokee Indian). I have worked on my family for years and suspect that this John is the father of Pleasant and David.
John Polston is listed as the father on David's death cert.
But is it the right one. I have traced John Mack's family also. The only one I can't find is Cammie. Just have reference to him in Fletcher papers.
If I can help just let me know. Looks like we are distant cousins. I have a picture of D.W. Polston and I think it is Daniel Wade. Also have a picture of John Wesley Polston, I think. The writing on the back was done in pencil and has faded so is hard to read. Who is this John Wesley??? These pictures were in my grandmothers stuff.
Jane Polston Vinson in Illinois

I asked a friend that has done a lot of work in genealogy about this cemetery. If I remember correctly, that is the name of the person or persons buried there, but I don't think there is a tombrock. She did some work on cemeteries and I think she said she found one person that knew this person or family name and that person is now deceased. I am 70 years old and that slab of concrete and a cemetery sign has been there as long as I can remember. Check the genealogy department of the Graves Co Library in Mayfield, KY and they might have some information. Sorry I can't be of more help.

It just seems odd for them to move to Missouri in by 1900 In 1880 Jacob W. and Martha are listed on the Graves County Census. I am trying to find out why they might have moved to Missouri.
I dont know where Ezekiel was buried. His father, James, died 1819 in Muhlenburg Co. Some of his siblings moved to McCracken Co. Some to Graves Co. On the 1840 census Ezekiel was in Graves Co. On the 1850 census Eleanor was in Graves Co. I have looked at some cemetery listings for McCracken and Graves Co.and found no Edens. Maybe Ezekiel had a stone at his grave, but no tombstone. This Edens branch came from Onslow Co., N.C. Bob.

In a partial document I have, titled "Ligons and their Kin of Graves Co., Ky", written by Mrs. Will M. Miller, several years ago, she says Ezekiel and Eleanor were married 1837 in Graves Co. and that he died there in 1844. The document has a Library of Congress Number 78-105-223. I amnot familiar with the Library of Congress or where she got her info. I do know a lot about Ezekiel's family back to the early 1700's., if you are interested.
This is the information I have. Sabra Midyett born April 7 1799 in Hyde County, North Carolina was married to John M Morgan. Sabra was the daughter of Micajah Midyett and Pency Brooks. Children of John and Sabra Morgan were Elias, Martha, Micajah, William, James, Francis, Nancy, Lucinda, Jordon and Elizabeth. The information concerning the marriage was sent to me by another researcher and I have no source record. There was a connection with this family. Their daughter, Martha, was the third wife of Augustus Morrow Smith. Sabra's sister, Matilda, was married to Francis Kitts. Jordon Kitts, son of Matilda and Francis, married Amarintha Jane Smith, daughter of Augustus Smith and his first wife, Mary. The names Micajah and Jordon seem to show up in various generations. They all lived in Graves County, Kentucky. Hope this helps some.

I have located them in the 1880 census. I can't find anything about them after 1880. My questions are:
1. Who are Elijah's parents. I visited Mayfield this past summer and located an Elijah Sullivan headstone in the Mt. Zion cemetery (several Sullivan's buried there). The birth date was on the stone was 1823. I couldn't dig down deep enough to find the death date (not sure there is one). Would like to know if this is the same Elijah. The records that I have point to Edward Uriah Sullivan as being his father. I am trying to verify this though.
2. What happen to Sarah Goins Sullivan after 1880?

Does anyone have a record for the Walnut Bluff Cemetery which belonged to the Walnut Bluff Methodist Church in Graves, KY?

I am told the church is no longer there but the info should be in Vol 4 pg. 234 of the cemetery records.

Thank you!
