William Nelson Higgason, 82, of Elizabethtown died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009 at Hardin Memorial Hospital.
The Green County native was a longtime member of Severns Valley and Northside Baptist Churches, where he also served as deacon for several years. He retired from the Commonwealth of Kentucky Department of Transportation after 47 years and was a member of Kentucky Society of Professional Engineers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edna Hazel and Hardin Ashby “Hop” Higgaeon, Sr. and by three brothers, Hardin Ashby “June” Higgason, Jr., Lionel Higgason and Bobby Higgason. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Anna Mae Higgason, one daughter, Beverly Dianne and Shervin, Sr. Travis of Elizabethtown, one sister, Margie Higgason Stewart of Louisville and two grandchildren, Tara Conzelman-Cheng and Robert Conzelman both of Louisville. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Brown Funeral Home. Burial took place in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and 2 to 6 p.m, Saturday at the funeral home.
