Mr. Julian Holland
Wilcoxson of Colorado a native of
Green County, son of the late
Mort Wilcoxson and Jessie Lee [Sublett]
Wilcoxson, was born on March 16, 1927 in Summer
Shade, and departed this life on Friday, Oct. 23, 2009 at the
Parker Adventist Hospital in Parker, Co. He was 82 years, seven months and seven days of age. He proudly served in the Navy on the Destroyer, Harry S. Bower and the USS New Jersey Battleship during World War II and Korea. He was formerly of Summersville, and was a member of the Summersville Baptist Church. He retired from Caterpillar Tractor, Peoria, Ill. on Dec. 1, 1982 after 35 years of service. He was a loyal husband, father, brother and friend. Mr. Wilcoxson loved his family, golfing, fishing, hunting and the St. Louis Cardinals. He loved to “tinker” and could repair almost anything. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. He united in marriage to Betty Jean
Hedgespeth on Dec. 27, 1971 who preceded him in death on Sept. 25, 1999. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Belinda
Wilcoxson of New Mexico; two step-sons, Earl Ray
Hedgespeth and his wife Joanne of LaGrange and Gene Lewis
Hedgespeth of Louisville; one step-daughter, Lela Ann
Krol and her husband
Stan of Colorado; two sisters,
Ophelia Powell of
Texas and Wanda
Henson of Columbia; one half-sister, Joyce Kelly of Greensburg; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Herman and Thelma
Wilcoxson of
Illinois and Frank and Jane
Wilcoxson of Florida; two grandchildren, Beth
Wilcoxson and Brian Wilcoxson; two step-grandchildren, Hannah
Hedgespeth and William Lewis Hedgespeth; and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral services for Mr. Julian Holland
Wilcoxson will be conducted at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009 at the Cowherd and
Parrott Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Wilson Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation is requested after 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31 until time of the funeral service. The family has requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Alzheimer Association, 2315 Bott Ave., Colorado
