Barbara Fields was born March 26, 1938 in Shelby County, Ind. to the late Lewis G. Smith and Letitia Staut Smith. She departed this life Monday, Oct. 26, 2009 at her home in Greensburg, having attained the age of seventy-one years and seven months. Mrs. Fields had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Lighthouse Tabernacle Church in Horse Cave. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Dee Fields on Sept. 19, 2001, whom she married June 22, 1986. Also preceding her in death is one daughter, Connie Lynn Schmidt and one brother and one sister, Buddy Smith and Lorene Hillgoss. She is survived by two sons, Lewis Otto Cotten of Brownstown, Ind. and Richard Allen Asher of Homosassa, Fl.; six daughters, Ada Arlene Adams of Indianapolis, Kathy Jo Cook of Brownstown, Ind., Sheila Kay Roberts of Seymour, Ind., Debra Diane Zachelmeyer of Whitestown, Ind., Beverly Lou Everett of Franklin, Ind. and Brenda Sue Jarrett of Whiteland, Ind.; three step-sons, Jerry Fields of Greensburg, David Fields of Edmonton, and Gary Fields of Seymour, Ind.; and two step-daughters, Linda Lloyd and Patricia Perry, both of Azaela, Ind. She is also survived by three sisters, Karen Frazier of Indianapolis, Sandy Redd of Shelbyville, Ind. and Freda Smith of Franklin, Ind.; twenty-five grandchildren, thirty-eight great grandchildren, twenty step-grandchildren and thirteen step-great grandchildren. Visitation was after 5:00 p.m., Oct. 28 and after 7:00 a.m. Oct.29. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Oct. 29, 2009 at the Foster-Toler-Curry Funerald Home in Greensburg with burial in the Horse Cave Community Cemetery. Bro. George Abney officiated. Pallbearers were Jonathon Zachelmeyer, Steven Fields, Keith Fields, Jesse Asher, Josh Hallet and Terry Fields. Online Condolences can be made at www.fostertolercurry.com.
