My family also is from Marion County. My grandmother was Mary Delores Thomas, born 1886. Her parents were Samuel Benedict Thomas Jr., born 1854 and Susan Ann Raley, born 1858. I'm wondering if George Thomas is related to Samuel Benedict Thomas. It's interesting that both George and Samuel were 46 in 1900. Cousins?

The Roney family tree is full of Lancaster's, Mattingly's, Spauldings, Abells, and Green's. Roger Roney bought land on Hardin's Creek, near present day Lebanon, in the mid 1790's after living in Harrodsburg since at least 1789. Family history has it that he and his wife Mary came through St. Mary's county in Maryland with other Catholic families on their way to Kentucky. Benedict Spaulding led a group of Maryland Catholics to Kentucky around 1790 and Roger Roney's name is listed as one of the 48 families.
