Vernon "Whitey" COLLINS, 70, of Dayton, OH died October 14, 2009 at his home. Born June 2, 1939 in Hazard, KY to Floyd COLLINS and Lucy Kathern (Lawson) COLLINS Snider, he graduated from Lebanon High School in 1958 and was a U.S. Navy & Air Force veteran. He was a retired pipefitter and enjoyed antiquing and photography. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Verna Kay Wesseler and brothers Herman and Sherman COLLINS and sister Edith COLLINS. Survivors include sons James COLLINS of Dayton, OH and Vernon D. (Amy) COLLINS of Cincinnati, OH, daughter Crystal Scott of Lebanon, OH, grandchildren Nick Scott, Gabrielle Proffitt and Heather and Kayla COLLINS, sisters Melanie Adams and Imogene McIntosh (Ivan), both of Lebanon, OH, 3 great grandchildren and man's best friend, his Golden Lab, Sam. Visitation was October 19, 2009 from 10-11:00 AM, with services immediately following, all at the Oswald-Hoskins Funeral Home, Lebanon, OH. Interment followed in Lebanon Cemetery.
