May Howard Mayhew, age 107, of Lexington, formerly of Barbourville, was born in Clay County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late A. L. Howard and Sarah A. Rawlings Howard. Mrs. Mayhew died Friday, December 26, 2003 in Lexington Country Place in Lexington. She was a member of the Central Christian Church in Lexington. On June 12, 1921, she united in marriage with Earl Mayhew, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Hanks, a grandson, Leeland Hanks III, and a brother, Omar Howard. She is survived by her sons: Howard Mayhew and wife Pat of Sun City, Arizona; Paul W. Mayhew and wife Imogene of Rancho Palos Verdes, California; her five grandchildren; four great grandchildrev, several great great grandchildren; and a longtime friend, Ann Kennedy of Lexington. Graveside services will be in the Mayhew Cemetery in Barbourville, Kentucky, Monday, December 29, 2003. Friends will be received at the cemetery before graveside services.
