      <description>May Howard Mayhew, age 107, of Lexington, formerly of Barbourville, was born in Clay County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late A. L. Howard and Sarah A. Rawlings Howard. Mrs. Mayhew died Friday, December 26, 2003 in Lexington Country Place in Lexington. She was a member of the Central Christian Church in Lexington. On June 12, 1921, she united in marriage with Earl Mayhew, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Hanks, a grandson, Leeland Hanks III, and a brother, Omar Howard. She is survived by her sons: Howard Mayhew and wife Pat of Sun City, Arizona; Paul W. Mayhew and wife Imogene of Rancho Palos Verdes, California; her five grandchildren; four great grandchildrev, several great great grandchildren; and a longtime friend, Ann Kennedy of Lexington. Graveside services will be in the Mayhew Cemetery in Barbourville, Kentucky, Monday, December 29, 2003. Smith, Oldham County, Theresa Lamb, Floyds Knob, Indiana, and Michael W. Smith, Versailles; four great grandchildren, Brenna Smith, Matthew Smith, Rachel Lamb, and Eli Smith; four step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.       <description>Rose Marian Mossell, lately of Maywood, Illinois, from 1952 to 1958 the head of the music department at Margaret Hall School in Versailles, died earlier this month. She was a native of the Netherlands. She endured the whole of the occupation of that country by the Nazis in World War II and then came to this country, where she taught music in several different places, including Margaret Hall. She received her education in Europe. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Versailles, and of other Episcopal Churches wherever she was living, the last being Grace Church, Oak Park, Illinois. She had brothers and sisters in Europe, but as far as is known, no relatives in this country. Many of her former colleagues and students remember her. When Margaret Hall closed Miss Mossell's collection of books in Dutch was given to the Schmaling Public Library in Fulton, Illinois, which has a sizable Dutch population A memorial service will be held at Grace Church, Oak Park, on Sunday, September 10, at noon.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;The Woodford Sun, Versailles, Kentucky, August 17, 1989</description>

Hutchinson, Barrington, Illinois; five daughters, Mrs. George H. (Martha) Talbott, Oyster Bay, Washington, Mrs. Fred D.(Catherine) DeFelice, Stamford, Connecticut, Mrs. Daniel A. (Mary) Fister, Miss Genevieve Hutchinson, and Mrs. Blance M. Horsman, all of Lexington; three sisters, Mrs. William (Lula) Sampson, Georgetown, Mrs. Joseph E. (Ada Beatrice) Lockhart, Park Hills, and Mrs. Cecil B. (Frankie) Brothers, Lexington; thirty-eight grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Two sons, Joseph E. and Charles R. Hutchinson,are deceased. A concelebrated Mass of the Resurrection was conducted August 15 at the Cathecral of Christ the King. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.       <description>Lexington garden supply businessman Fred A. "Boots" Bramlett died Wednesday, July 5, at Central Baptist Hospital after an illness of a year and a half. Bramlett, a fromer resident of Versailles, was 60. He was a co-founder and chairman of the Colonial Garden Center on Nicholasville Road. The business was started in 1967. He was a Lexington native and a Navy veteran. The Bramlett family lived in Versailles in the late 1930 and early 1940s. He attended St. John's Episcopal Church in those years and sang in the choir. He and his late brother, Oakley Bramlett, attended Versailles High School. He is survived by his wife, Joanne Elfers Bramlet, and a son, Bruce Raymond Bramlett of Lexington. She and her husband owned the McLean County News from 1946 until 1972. She was a member of Calhoun Methodist Church. She later lived in Berea and Frankfort. In retirement she was the volunteer co-editor of Bluegrass Roots, the magazine of the Kentucky Genealogy Society. Survivors include six sons, Alvin Wills, Merced, California, Clyde Wills, Metropolis, Robert Wills, Shawville, Quebec, Richard Wills, Montreal, Quebec, Lawrence Wills, Cambridge, Mass., and Thomas Wills, Chapel Hill, North Carolina; a brother, Dr. Robert Blake, Maysville; nine grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren. During World War II he worked at the Philadelphia Ship Yards as a welder prior to entering active service. He retired from IBM after 29 years of service. He served as usher of his church, Centenary United Methodist. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, and three children: a daughter, Susan Kerns, Lexington, a son, Charles Smith Jr. of Charlotte, North Carolina, a daughter, Pat Philrich, San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Susabeth Switzer of Nicholasville, Mike Kerns, Versaills, David Kerns, Burlington, Christian Smith, Las Vegas, Nevada, Carrie Hope Mackey, Shiloh, Illinois, and Chris Philbrick, San Antonio, Texas; great-grandchildren Lyn and Leighann Switzer, Kelsey and Shelby Kerns, and T.       <description>Mary Florence Crump, 83, a resident of Jacsonville, Florida, died Sunday, March 22, 1987 of a massive stroke. She was a native of Harrison County and had been a Florida resident since 1949 when she moved there to take a position as vice president of the Jones College. She was an officer and director of the Pilot Club of Jacksonville and a member of and past officer of the Unity Church of Jacksonville. Memorial services were held at the Unity Church of Jacksonville on March 26. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Unity Church or to the Mary F. Crump Scholarship Fund at Jones College. Survivors include a brother-in-law, Ernest Hobday of Harrison County; and a niece and nephew. She was preceded in death by a sister, Alma F. Hobday; and a brother, Wesley Florence. He was born in Winchester, Kentucky, on January 10, 1925, to the late Francis and Josie Haggard Wiley. He was a U. S. Navy veteran and Pearl Harbor survivor. He worked for Blake &amp;amp; Johnson Company for 25 years. He was also the owner of M. M. Wiley, Inc. Texaco Distributorship in Cynthiana. He was a member of the Cynthiana Christian Church where he served as a Deacon. Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Eudora Withers Wiley, one daughter, Jodell (Raymond) Works of Richmond, Virginia; three sons, Larry M. (Pat) Wiley of Cynthiana, Marvin W. (Dru) Wiley of Albany, Kentucky, and Mark S. Wiley, Cynthiana; one brother, Ray Wiley of Lexington, and one sister, Carrie Tuttle of Fort Wayne, Indiana; seven granddaughters, Rae Carol (David) Plantz, Rachel (David) Alachnowicz, Maria (Chuck) Gambrell, Laura Anne Wiley, Ashley Wiley, Lesley Wiley and Julie Wiley; eight great-grandchildren, Mitchell and Maria Plantz, John Raymond, Jacob, Carolee and Zachary Alachnowicz, Grant and Jack Gambrell. A visitation will be held at Cynthiana Christian Church December 15, 2008 and a Memorial Service will follow at 12 p.m. at the church.
