My Grandmother was a sister to claud and floyd norris. Her name was Jessie norris. I have alot of family history that my mother gave me and my cousins about the norris and gregory family. I am so happy to have found this tonight, My mother is Juanita wood. She turned 96 last week and did have a good memory until lately. Our grand Mother Nancy Gregory Norris is burried at Mountain Valley Cemetery just outside of Edgewood,NM on barton Rd.She was burried in plot 33 in the loyd family plot. We have a picture that my Cousin took of the rock headstone. She Nancy Kathern Gregory was a fullblooded Chickasaw and her parent had been on the Trail Of Tears when they lost 2 chldren from the flue and Nancy and one brother were raised by suposible uncle and aunt after their parents were killed. These people that took nancy and her brother burned their family bible or family papers. George OLIVER nORRIS WAS FROM KENNEBEC cO.mAINE oCTBER18,1848 . HE RAN AWAY FROM HOME WHEN HE WAS ABOUT 12 YRS,OLD . LATER JOINED THE COAST GUARD during the cival war . I have a copy of his enlistment papers. he was wounded and received a monthly check from the veterns association until he died. HE IS BURRIED IN Oklahoma. George Oliver Norris married Nancy Kathern Gregory March 3 1870 HOOD County,Indian Territory currently Oklahoma. They moved by a covered wagon with some friends named Loyd to ranch between Mariarty and Estancia New Mew Mexico. They had Oscar,Anna, Jessie,Floyd,Mary,Oscar,Bud,Ida and Claud.
