Griesbach i. Rottal is the village where my family attended church in the late 1700s. A number of baptism from the parish register there have been very helpful to me in my research.

If this is your mother's family hometown, I have no doubt that the "two" Wegertseder families are ultimately connected.

Let's stay in touch.

Dave

My line, as far as I know it...

Blasius Wegertseder & Katharina, his wife, had children baptized at Griesbach i. Rottal:
Martin Wegertseder, 6 October 1752; born at the "Richterhaus" in Gerau
Lorenz Wegertseder, 20 January 1755, Gerau
Apollonia Wegertseder, bp. February 1758, Gerau

Lorenz had a son, Paul, baptized there in 1778

Martin had four children, and his wife was named Maria Tanzer. Martin was a weaver, and part of their Guild. They had four children of whom I am aware:
Katharina, bap. 23 Feb 1786; born at Schwaim
Georg, bap. 30 Jan 1791, Schwaim; d. 30 Apr 1865, Walchsing--he is my direct ancestor, and succeeded his father's right in the Guild
Michael, bap. 16 Sep 1794, Schwaim
Magdalena, bap. 2 May 1798, Schwaim

These references are from the Griesbach parish register.

Georg's wife was Gertraud, who was buried 29 May 1871, aged 78 at Walchsing.

If any ot this looks familiar, please let me know. I understand that Georg and Gertraud had a number of children counted in their household in census records of the 1840s for Bavaria.

David,

thanks so much for all the info. Don't know how much my mother knows about the Wegertseder part of the family, but I will definitely ask her about it. I've been so wrappedup in trying to find traces of the Depress (Depreff), that I had'n even tried the Wegertseder Clan. I do have a brother and sister in the Munich Area that could maybe do some research for me. They are by different fathers and are also looking for their roots in the Milliard and Straights which were also US Soldiers from God Knows Where. I am not great in working the computer research. Can't even figure out how to print your message. I will get back to you. Thank again...Manfred.

David,

talked to my mother this weekend. Unfortunately, she doesn't know anything about the Wegertseders other than the fact that her mother came from Griesbach im Rottahl. She and her two sisters were given away for adoption when she was about 6 years old. Her stepfather got her back when she was seven because he could get social security money in her behalf. Her fathers name was Eduard Berglehner. Let me know if you find out anything else about the Wegerseders. Thanks, Manfred Russell: HD53FLE@aol.com.

Dave,

I've been looking into the Griesbach scene. Got a hold of one of the Ahnenforschers in that area of Bavaria who is supposed to get back with me sometimes after their next meeting in December. My mother knows nothing about the Wegertseders because she, and her two sisters were given away. She was however returned to her Mother at the age of seven. If you've found out anything else please let me know. We seem to have common roots. What about all the Wegertseders in the US? Seems to be more over here than in Germany. Let me know your E-Mail Address. Mine is: HD53FLE@aol.com
