Searching for any Information on my grandfather's family. He was Theodore R. Depriest, b.Apr 15, 1905, enrolled 1907 Checotah IT. His parents were Thompson DEPRIEST and Pearl DOYLE. Need to know any info on Thompson, i.e. birthdate, burial place. I know he died Aug. 25, 1905. I know his parents were John and Elizabeth (CORLEY?) DEPRIEST, but have no documentation or way to trace back further. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I do have information on your DePriest and Corley families. They more than likely tie together, here is what I have.

My mother was Ruth (Modena) Stauss B. Eufaula, McIntosh Co., OK, she married my father Acy Theophilus Kimbro from Eufaula,OK. My mother's mother was Ruth Josephine (Lee) who married John Vincent Stauss, my Grandmother "Josie" (Lee) Stauss was born in Hanna,Ok. her older brother was:

William D. (Bud) Lee B. march 1884 in Arkansas he married Betty Elizabeth DePriest who was B. November 14, 1804 in Indian Territory and she Died: October 27, 1917, she is buried in the Fishertown Cemetery, McIntosh Co., OK, she was the daughter of James Walter DePriest and Emily (Chisholm) DePriest....James DePriest's Indian Roll #2452 and Emily (Chisolm) DePriest is #2453.

James Walter DePriest was B. December 12, 1877 in Jasper County, Mississippi and married Emily Chisolm on February 11, 1892 in Jasper Co., Mississippi, James DePriest D. September 9, 1908 and is buried in the Fishertown Cemetery, McIntosh Co., OK.... James Walter DePriest was the son of:

John Hines DePriest and Elizabeth Corley

Emily Chisholm was B. May 10, 1877 and D. April 6, 1925 she is buried also in the Fishertown Cem., McIntosh Co., OK, she is the daughter of Daniel Chisholm and Betty Fife....Betty's Roll #9933.

Children of James Walter DePriest and Emily Chisholm are:

1. Betty Elizabeth DePriest B. Nov. 14, 1894 in I.T.
Died October 27, 1917 was married to William D. (Bud) Lee her Roll #2454....William D. (Bud) Lee was my Great Uncled, he is buried at Bixby, Tulsa Co., OK.

2. Ruford DePriest B. May 27, 1897 I.T., married August 23, 1920 to Anna Belle Blackwell Roll #2455
Ruford Died April 20, 1973 is buried at Bixby, OK.

3. Luther DePriest B. March 1, 1903 in I.T., Roll #729, Died October 27, 1918 is buried at Enid, Oklahoma.

*These are Creek Indian Roll Numbers...........................

Luther DePriest was injured a number of times as a result of typical farm accidents such as falls from trees, wagons, and died at Hospital, Enid, OK, due to Spanish Influenza, he was returned, by rail, and bured at Fishertown Cemetery, McIntosh Co., Ok. near Eufaula, OK. He died at 8:40 PM October 27, 1918.

My Gr. Uncle William (Bud) Lee and Betty Elizabeth DePriest had only 1 child before she died and that was Maudie Elizabeth (Lee) Mrs. Cecil Andrew (Chief) Edwards.
Gr. Uncle Bud Lee as we referred to him married again to Viola McIntosh.....B. Feb 27, 1896 at Hugo, Indian Territory, OK she died November 6, 1965, she was Creek Indian, she is buried at Bixby Cemetery Lot 25, Grave 1, Block 5, her father was W. R. McIntosh and her mother was Thedosa London, they had 2 sons, Clarence (Mutt) Lee and William Don "Billy Don" Lee.

Viola McIntosh Lee's father W.R. McIntosh was Col. McIntosh at was at the Battle of Pea Ridge in Arkansans during the Civil War. I also understand from family passing down information that McIntosh County, OK was named for Col W. R. McIntosh....his daughter "Viola (McIntosh) Mrs. William H. (Bud) Lee....had the two sons, but Clarence never married, so no children and Billy Don did marry a Janet Stevens and they had 2 children Robert Lee and Anita Lee. William Donald "Billy Don" Lee was a Korean Vet.

When Great Uncle William H. (Bud) Lee lost wife Betty Elizabeth DePriest they say he turned white headed over night, he had nightmares until family members had her body dug up so he would know she was really dead, he dreamed he buried her alive.

I have tons of DePriest names, don't know if this will help you, but I am sure they are all connected.

Please let me know if I can help you further.

I have extensive research on the DePriest Family and other related lines. Will be happy to share with any who are intersted. My records go back to the DePress spelling of the name and as indicated they are extensive.

do you have anything on Allen DePriest, born 1811.Suppose to have been born in Ill., His wife Nancy Shannon, born 1822, Ky. His father (I think) William DePriest born?. His wife #2 Anna Shannon. Her first husband was Samuel Laramore. Cant seem to get further back than that. Allen was the father of Albert (Abbart) P DePriest who was the father of my grandfather John Harrison DePriest. Ruford Depriest was listed as a boarder at the home of Charley Blackwell in the 1920 census for Eufaula, OK.
Charley was my great grandfathers brother.
