The Hodge/Mitchum connection comes back in to my gggrandfather, James Riley Mitchum. He had 3 sons who married Hodge women.
Thomas Augustas Mitchum = Mary Catherine Hodge
Theodore Mitchum = Margarette Hodge
George Mitchum = Elizabeth Hodge

Their brother Samuel Augustas Mitchum was my ggrandfather.

I do not have parents names for any of the Hodge women.

I have a Robert Cumbee in my tree. He was born around 1857. He died in 1926 in Berkeley Co., SC. The informant on his brothers death certificate was Ransom Cumbee. Robert's father was Thomas Henry and his mother was Mary Lofton.

I am not sure if I have replied to this message befor, just incase I have not, my hysband's grandfather was John Woodard Lockliear son of Hamilton and half brother to Robert Hamilton Lockliear, maybe you can help me fill in the blanks in family tree, I have no information on Elizabeth McCants whi I was told was John's fathers first wife. Could you help me?

The Calamus Pond Cemetery is located off Mudville Road on Calamus Pond
Road. Bill Peagler lives on the corner. It is a dirt road that has been closed. Bill Jr may know where it is.

My Grandfather was Curtis Scott s/o Henry Scott and Martha Rhode. I don't know the relationships with the other surnames but my neighbors/family friends growing up on Berkeley Circle included Dangerfields, Driggers and Bunch. Would love to share information.

IF you can get a copy of the Berkeley County Cemetery inscriptions, there are several very old Bunch graves at Rehoboth United Meth. Church, Berkeley County.

Aunt Tressa's daughter Mary wed Ned Orvin, lived in Georgetown, SC, may still be there, has been spending a lot of time with a son in Atlanta, and I don't remember his name. I know Mary was still living in 2006, she called me when my mom passed away, as they were cousins.

One thing I hadn't noticed before -- the informant on Sarah Sumter's death certificate is Ellazer or Ellajer Sumter (might also be Eleazer or Eleajer.)This is most likely her son "Ellie."

Take a look. Make sure you look at the scanned image -- click on the little image on the top right. You can also zoom in to different parts of the document when it comes up.

I think that I found them in the 1900 US Census. Ancestry has mis-transcribed their last name to Senater (but then some of the kids' last names are Sunter)

If this is the correct family, then Ellie is listed as Elisha.

Take a look -- under Joseph Senater in Berkeley County.

Also, there are several Gourdin families nearby, including William Gourdin -- whom I think is Sarah's brother.

Another thing I found out; Berkeley County was created in 1882 from Charleston County.

Then, in the 1870 US Census I found:

He's also in the 1920 US Census, but with a different birth year. It's the same man, though, because the family members match up.

I think you have just provided the missing link for my family. We are Drayton and although we are in Colleton County, SC (Green Pond), I figured there MUST be a link to the Draytons in Charleston. Since slaves typically took the names of their masters, the unique spelling of Fraser was of particular interest. My trail runs cold at Annie Drayton Fraser (b.Aug 9, 1872/d.Dec 27, 1965) and Simon Fraser (b.1869/d.2/14/1934). These were my great grandparents. I suspect that they may have come from Wigton Plantation?

Do you have any other information on them?

hello i am looking for information on my father, i never knew him all i know is that his name was alonzo brown (AKA SHORTY), born around 1895 to 1897 Aa very short light skined man and walked with a limp and used a cane, i was also told that on 2/14/1966 he shot and killed chris cutler over a card game in charlston south carolina, i was told he served time and died around 1979 thanks for any help

My name is Susan Grady, my mother is Jean Blankenship Grady and her mother was Irene Dennis Blankenship. Irene Dennis Blankenship's father was William Hampton Dennis and his father was General EJ Dennis and his father was WJ Dennis. Do you have any information on General EJ Dennis's siblings?

I am a decendent of the Dennis's, my mother might have some information. Who are your parents and grandparents? My mother's name is Jean Blankenship Grady and her mother, my grandmother's name was Irene Dennis Blankenship and my grandmother's father was William Hampton Dennis, his father was General EJ Dennis and his father was WJ Dennis.

The brothers and sisters of William Hampton Dennis (My great grandfather)are Edward James Dennis, Walter Dennis, Louise Dennis Altman, Julia Dennis Carson. William Hampton Dennis (my great grandfather)was a County Supervisor in Berkeley County and his brother, Edward James Dennis was a senator from Berkeley County and his other brother Walter Dennis was a Berkeley County Sheriff.

Daniel Webster Driggers was my grandfather as was an uncle. What information might you need or have regarding descendants. With Mary Anna Bell Wiley Driggers they had Andrew, Truman, Dan, Clifford, Earl, Wilbur and Leola. I believe they also had another daughter b/4 marriage Eva, and after Anna Bell's death after child birth Daniel remarried and another daughter Margaret. Ask on, or tell me and I'll listen. Can anyone help me with information on the following? Nathan and Harriet are my maternal great-grandparents. Page 29. They were both born in North Carolina. Married in 1860 between the months of Jan through August.

I am trying to locate the family Of Wiley L Conerly B- ca 1800 in South Carolina. He moved to Alabama in the early 1800's where he married Dorcas Rose (O'Connor ?). Attention: As far back as 1830 the eady was the only way eady spell,some say 1800,other say 1850,the change were made to hide from slavery.It was on my tree until ancestry remove it,guess peoples complain about it to much. Also we not talking about over seas.
