Entered into eternal rest on the morning of December 7, 2007, Marjorie Knobeloch McCay, widow of Ralph Falkner McCay. Residence, Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services in Lutheran Church of The Redeemer, Monday, December 10, 2007 at twelve noon. Interment, Bethany Cemetery. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, Sunday between four and six o'clock. Mrs. McCay was born August 22, 1915 in Charleston, SC, the daughter of J. Frederick Knobeloch and Christine Amme Knobeloch. She was a graduate of Ashley Hall and The College of Charleston where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. She retired from the Ralph McCay Insurance Agency. Mrs. McCay was a member of Lutheran Church of The Redeemer and Edgewater Park Garden Club. She is survived four children: Donna McCay Poulnot and her husband Carlton of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Ralph Falkner McCay, Jr. and his wife Elisabeth of Timberlake, NC, Gordon Lange McCay and his wife Karen of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Marilyn McCay Swygert and her husband Arthur of Charleston, SC; nine grandchildren: Carla Poulnot Kinnett and her husband Van of Isle of Palms, SC, Stephen Kirk Poulnot and his wife Betsy of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Bryan Chambless McCay and his wife Tara of Phoenix, AZ, Christy McCay Sharer of Roxboro, NC, Amy McCay Polk and her husband Kevin of Columbia, SC, Meridith Swygert Satterwhite and her husband Ryan of Charleston, SC, G. Michael McCay and his wife Marty of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Melissa Joy Swygert of Ashville, NC and Arthur Ross Swygert, III of Charleston, SC; twelve great-grandchildren: Ashley, Kelly and Katherine Poulnot, Christine and Caroline Kinnett, Tyler and Seabrook Polk, Wyatt and Garrett Sharer, Marlee Satterwhite, Carmen and Simone McCay. She was predeceased by her sister, Elise Knobeloch Kirby and her brother, Col. Wilfred Knobeloch. In her last years, she was lovingly cared for by caregivers: Catherine Strange, Margaret Rattigan, and Nancy Baylor. Memorials may be made to Lutheran Hospice, 900 Johnnie Dodds Blvd., Suite 200, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464 or to Lutheran Church of The Redeemer, 714 Riverdale Drive, Charleston, SC 29407.
