Thank you. I don't know who his parents are. That is where the questions come from. We know little about him, but, I do know he was my great grandfather. He left Alabama shortly after the Civil War due to some sort of problem--not sure what it was--but he was a teacher. It was something that caused him to believe that he would be in trouble. He came to Texas--Washington on the Brazos area, met and married Mary Stewart and worked for her father who was a wagoneer. He had a sister, Sarah (not Thomas' Sarah--she was blind and lived with him and Mary for awhile, married a Mr. Brewster. That is all I can find on him. He and Tobe were about the same age, and I think Tobe was a child of Thomas and Sarah. The reason I know Sarah was his aunt was because of the copy of the letter he wrote to her. In the letter, he mentioned Tobe, and he referred to her as "Aunt Sarah".
I am stuck there. Most of the information on David came from a relative who was interviewed by my Mother. He said there were alot of teachers in this line. But, cannot get a finger on anything else.
I would like to know what you might have on Thomas' children, and anything on the Maxwell family.
You got back real fast. I was not expecting a reply for a week or more. I appreciate anything you can give me that might solve some of the questions I have.

I believe that Sarah Milhous Maxwell's parents were William Maxwell (1750-1810SC) and Abigail Sleigh Milhous (1763-1810SC). It appears Sarah had at least 2 siblings-- Joseph Milhous Maxwell (1783SC) and Charles Henry (1790SC).
Children of Thomas and Sarah were Peter D. Rumph (14Nov1807SC-15Aug1911SC),Mary A.(12May1809SC-16Apr1811SC),William Maxwell Rumph (21jun1811SC-16Apr1881Rome, Floyd Co.,GA), and Eliza A. (5Jul1813SC-29Jun1839).
William Maxwell Rumph m. Frances Jane Lide. 11 children- Edward,Herbert,Thomas Eli,William James, Alice Elizabeth, Sara Frances, Cornelius Mandeville, Henry Lide, Mary Mandeville, Julia Edith, and Jane Lide all born in AL.1841-1856
Hope this is helpful

I have been trying to connect the Sanders/Fishburne of Colleton Co., with mine. Lambert Sanders came to S.C. c. 1678, had sons William, Samuel and Peter I. Peter II married Elizabeth Fishburne. I think it's possible the William Sanders/Saunders of Colleton Co. was the brother of Lambert. Lambert's land grant was in present day Berkeley co. and possible Williamsburg Co. between Moncks Corner and Kingstree. Peter and Elizabeth were married at St. Phillips in Charleston. [I was a Moorer and my mother was a Sanders] If any of you can help me make the connect that would be great,
