Dear Tom:
Upon reading your message listing Clarkie
Rice Risher, I would like to ask you if you have any genealogical informtion regarding her name. I am trying to identify the maiden name of my great, great, great-grandmother, Clarkie
Rice Cotton-Smith-Davis who was born in the Old
Barnwell District, S. C. in 1811 and had a sister, Ann Ellen who also was born there. Since I cannot locate official documents out of
Barnwell, S. C. I am trying to identify her parentage through secondary documents. The name of Clarkie
Rice is handed down through many generations of my family, and it is an unusual name. That is why I would like to ask you about Clarkie
Rice Risher's background. Also,
Colleton County, S. C. is within the geographical area of the Old
Barnwell District. Thank you very much for your help. Another person may be another sister of Clarkie and Ann Ellen and her married name was Selina M. Blount. They lived in
Savannah for many years. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Carole
