I am trying to find the parents of James A. Harper born in Colleton County in 1779.He moved to Copiah County Mississippi. I have two possible links to James. One is James Harper who immigrated to South Carolina with his family on the ship Earl of Donegal in 1767 at the age of 16. The other is Solomon Harper born 1749 in either Va or SC. Can anyone help me find out which of these might be the correct link or possibly provide another link that I may have overlooked.

Do you have any idea as to when James moved to Copiah County, Miss? My James was born in 1779 and the 1790 Census shows that Solomon did not have any male children under the age of 16. James would have been only 11 years old at that time. Edward appears in that Census so that Edward was probably Solomon's brother.
