Classification: Query
Looking for the husband of Rachel Tuten. She was in Robertville, Hampton County, Beaufort District S.C. prior to 1840. She lists her children in her will as Hampton, Pierce M., William Robert., Joseph M., Patrick Howell, Harley McLoyd, James R., and Mary Escella Tuten McAlpin.

Speculation is that Thomas Tuten, brother of Richard Simon could be her husband. Other speculation is that her husband was a William. Richard Simon's father was a William and mother was Jemina Tuten.

Rachel was involved in the Baptist church organization in Sandy Run near Barnwell in the 1830's. If we can find that a William or Thomas was also on that committee as well. It will be enough for our records to establish that man as her husband.

We have indisputable proof that Rachel's husbands were either brother's or cousins as correspondence between Richard Simon and Cynthia Tuten's children state in a letter that a son of Rachel (Rigdon) is "cousin".

Anyone with knowledge or curiosity and can hunt/find data to resove this mystery is asked to respond......your help is appreciated.
