I don't know whether there is a relationship with your William K. Adams and our Ichabod, William, and Samual. William and Samual are not usual names but Ichabod -- I'm not sure of. If I find out more about the family which would support a relationship, I'll post it here. We just don't have enough information right now to know more.

William Kinney Adams, Randolph County, IL

I am searching for informtion about the birthplace and parents of William Kinney Adams. He was born about 1834 and died about 1882 in Randolph County, IL. He is first identifiable at age 27 in the 1860 Census where he was listed as a farmer. He was married to Mary Ann Outon. Children were Samuel, William, Ichabod, Sarah, Nancy Jane, Erich Hudson, Andrew, Mary Celeste, and Joseph Brown Adams.

Any suggestions on where to look for him prior to 1860 will be appreciated.

Cathy McDonald
csamcdonald@gmail.com

I'm looking for a connection to a Nick Adams, who is still living at the age of 91 and is a Long haul truck driver. I would like to connect with him and ask him about a driver that he had in AZ during the 1980's. His name was Robert or Bob Anderson. I would like to ask Nick Adams if he remembers Bob and what may have happened to him. I understand from a mutual friend that he may be deceased. Thank you in advance . . .

Lynn R.
Thanks. I have found the family in the 1900 census, which added 4 more children, but it looks like Lucy gave birth to 11 and I only have 8. I have not done much other research, because of time. I have corrected Lucy's place of death and burial. I felt that NJ that had been given to me by someone else was wrong, so I appreciate your information. I do not have any additional information on any of the children, other than Emma Texana, my husband's direct ancestor. I would love to know what you have. My direct email is rosican@bellsouth.net if that would be easier to send a file.

Sorry I have been slow to respond. I get so busy that some things just get put off, even if I would rather be working on the genealogy stuff than what I usually am doing.

Thanks,
Rosemary

These Adams had migrated From Botetourt to Hopkins, KY and then Howard Missouri before taking the wagon trains. Very possibly common ancestors back in Botetourt--where Robert Adams spent a lot of years.

Seems I have heard of a william.

Adams is a pretty common name. Good farmers!

L

I've read about them. And wondered if the Myrtle Creek Adams were related. The Myrtle Creek Adams came from Botetourt Co., VA, originally. Their group claimed 3,200 acres right near each other. Some think they were part of the groups that were intent on starting churches. Joe Cornelison was related to at least one other Adams - William? He came later - the 1860's and settled near Roseburg.
They came possibly through CA, but most likely had been in Taney Co., Missouri before that.
Ah, Napa Valley.
The other surnames in the group were Bailey, Weaver, Wright and Cornelison. Bailey's two brothers were killed by Indians and he sued the US government. Many stories....

Thomas Adams, who was part of the 1845 Meek Cutoff Wagon Train, was an older brother of my great great grandfather. He, Thomas, left Oregon in 1848, for the Napa Valley and many more travels.

One of his older daughters, Elizabeth Adams, married Benjamin Cornelius and their son Thomas Ramsey Cornelius, was important in early Oregon history. Town of Cornelius is names after him.

Also his second wufe was a Cornelius.

L

If you get some later than the 1700's, they may ramble about the family history. One history piece I have that was published in an Oregon newspaper for one of the Oregon Adams (John Franklin of Salem) described the family's history and connection to President Adams, as I recall.
Which Oregon Adams are you related to?

Robert Adams and Elizabeth Hubbard seem to be the logical parents as well as a childhood and early married life in Botetourt, Virginia.
Kathey:
We also connect to a James Asa Adams and I have his info. However he was born in NC.My email is rka4200@yahoo.com. This one couls be the son of that one. My hubby did a DNA and tied into that Adams family. OUr ggg grandfather is JAmes Adams also and he was b abt 1799 in TN. TN was not a state yet so I am guessing it was in NC.HE married Catherine THomas and they had 4 or 5 kids in NC and then went in 1837 to Ray COunty MO.Our JAmes died just before 1850 in Ray Co, MO. We have never been able to find any family further back and we dont yet know the relationship to James Asa Adams who is the right age to be a son or a nephew.I think he was born abt 1830 in NC. I have a connection to that line if you email me I will give it to you.
Rose

The only news I can add is that Landy Adams served with Company B of the 8th Missouri State Militia Cavalry. I believe he was a scout.

The story my mother told was that a mule rolled on him.

My mother believed no one in the family served the South.

I have a lot of information on my husband's ancestor Edwin Milton Adams but the only information I have on his father is that he was named Hiram Adams and moved from Conneticut to New York, (Hierkmer area) before 1826. Have you found any other information?
