Looking for family related to the Addie's

Vicky Addie  (View posts) Posted: 24 Mar 2000 9:45PM GMT
My family's last name is Addie. There is a very small town in Illinois called Addieville. I do not know if this has any significance in my family or not. Most of my current family lives in Northwestern Louisiana (Shreveport/Vivian/Ida areas). Some are also in Arkansas and Texas. My father's parents are Jewell Clyde Addie and Beatrice Elizabeth Varnell Addie. Both have now passed away but her father was German. I do know we are somehow related to some people with the last name of Farmer and Heflin. My father was working on a family tree that I would like to continue with. His name is Douglas Addie. He died in 1979.
If you have any information, please email me back. Thanks!

I have an Addie in my tree

My Great grandmother's name was Effie Izora Addie, she was born 5-9-1880, died 6-24-1955 and is buried in Fairplay cemetary in Arkansas. She was married to George Carpenter in Arkansas. The info on this family that I have is very little. I have just started searching this side of my family. My grandmother is still living, but remembers little about her grandparents. Not even a name, I will be talking to her more and will post as I get info. If this might be some of your family, I would like to get together if we can. Email me or post here.
Christy

Thanks for the info.

Hi, Thank you for the information. I'll ask my aunt. She would know if we have relatives in Arkansas. She herself lives in Northeastern Louisiana about 2 miles from the state border of Arkansas. I have heard we have relatives in Arkansas but I do not know who. I'll keep you posted, too. Again, thanks. -Vicky

I have been doing research for some time now and am always looking for more info. I have my lineage traced back to the early 1800's in Scotland. I have no direct connection that I am aware of to the first names you mentioned however my database is incomplete. I have also not got all the info I have entered. My lineage is basically from Wisconsin. Many relatives have wonder though. I would be glad to help if I can and will share info if we think we can connect. Thanks and please E-mail me back.

I'm from Oil City, LA originally. My grandfather is Charlie Addie, brother of Harm Addie, Sam Fletcher (His widow lived in Dallas area near her children), Tobe Addie
and Uncle of Charles Addie of Ida.
I have birthdates and spouses for all of Charlie Addie's siblings and those for his father, though more sketchy. Father was John Marion W Addie, Married to Nancy Garrett Fletcher Addie Brand. John Marion's father was John T Addy, married to Mildreth?
I know where they are buried and my mom knows quite a few Addies and Garretts in Arkansas

John T Addy ( It seems they up and changed the spelling of Addy about this generation. Here in Louisiana, they are spelling it Addie. John T Addy is my great-great grandfather. I am told that he and his wife Mildreth (Milly or Molly?) are buried at Ten mile cemetary near or in Lonsdale, AR
John Marion Addie was a professional baseball player and got killed from being hit by a baseball. My grandfather, Charles Albert Addie was born a few days after this. I don't have much on John T and his wife but I do have some data on their thirteen children. My e-mail is route66_71106@yahoo.com. It is so exciting to find you!

Classification: Query
Tobe Addie is buried at Line Creek Cemetary in Ida, LA (or go through Rodessa to get to the cemetary). There is a road nearby called Addie Road. This is where my grandfather, Jewel C. Addie, lived. I believe it's his brother, Charlie Addie, that passed away a few years ago and is also buried in Line Creek. Several of the Addie's still live on that road. My grandfather, Jewel, had 5 children. Donald, Jerry, Douglas (my dad, also buried at Line Creek), Joyce and Linda. Joyce passed away in 2000. The rest still live in the Rodessa/Vivian/Shreveport areas. I'm not terribly familiar with family members beyond that and their relations. However, if you go to Line Creek Cemetary, most of the Addie's are buried there in the same area of the cemetary. Looks like we might be relatives, Pamela! :-) (P.S. I just recently married and have posted here under my maiden name before of Addie.)
