I am looking for my great aunt, Ann (b 1886) and my great uncle Henry (1892) and any descendants. I am also looking for any connections at all to this family, especially to two more recent descendants, Henry (1892)and Ann (1886), born to Thomas (1861) and Elizabeth Parr) (1860). All born and lived in Warrington. Thomas (1861) was a wire drawer. I do not know the dates of death for Henry and Ann and I am looking for their descendants. I do not know if Ann married. She died in the late 50s or early 60s.

I am also looking for my great great great grandfather, Thomas, who was married to Nancy (nee Kay). I believe he may have deserted her and died either in England or he left the country. They lived in Warrington, and he was a glass maker in 1826.

Are you the person who phoned my father and Aunt from Canada recently?

I am Henry Ashton's grandson. He was born on 19th December 1889 and died on 6th February 1929 when my father was six years old.

I have searched census forms and have traced the Ashtons back to James and Ann who were Thomas's parents. All the men seem to be wire drawers. I think your 'glass blower' is a case of poor handwriting on the census form and he was another wire drawer.

Best wishes

David Ashton

Hello David

No mistake about the glassblower, I'm afraid. His name was Thomas, and deserted his wife, Nancy, and died in the workhouse. I am aware that they were all wire drawers, apart from him. He was before James and Ann.

Yes, my grandmother was Henry's sister. I did find out information about him. I believe nobody in your family knew about my grandmother either. I did speak with your father and aunt, and asked them to give you my e-mail address. Did they do that? It is far less public than this forum.

Jean

Jean - thanks for your swift reply. The e-mail address that my parents took down was not a correct e-mail address - a combination of their old age and deafness caused the problem!

Contacting them again would only produce the same result and you are right to say putting such information on as open a forum as this is unwise.

As our families seemed to branch away from each other about 100 years ago, and your research seems to have gone further back than mine, what information could you want from me that would be helpful to you?

Best wishes

David

Why not give me your e-mail address, so that we don't have to discuss everything publicly?
