Many Family Trees on Ancestry.com show that James Bailey (Abt. 1725 of Westmoreland Co., VA - 1779 Bute Co., NC) descended from John Bailey Jr. (1690 Westmoreland Co., VA - Bef. 1735 Westmoreland Co.,) s/o John Bailey Sr. (Abt. 1664 Northumberland Co., VA - 1736 Westmoreland Co.)s/o Stephen Bailey (Abt. 1625 England - 1698 Westmoreland Co., Va)

The Will of Stephen Bailey is available on line and it links him to a John Bailey. This would appear to be the John Bailey Sr. based on dates. Does anyone have any original source documentation to tie John Bailey Jr, and James Bailey to Stephen and John Sr.?

Mr. Bailey, I am new to looking at this line. I had never heard of the "Big House" that I see mentioned.

There are a couple of sources that pop up for Stephen Bailey showing him married to an "Ann Walker" of Plymouth Mass., daughter of a Mayflower passenger! She born and died in Mass., with S. Bailey born and died in Va.

This sounds far fetched to me. Another old post has Stephen Bailey married to Mary Ann Jefferies in 1660. Which way do you go with this?

Gosh, I have that wrong, it was Stephen's son John Bailey supposedly married to the Walker woman. But same problem, she is of Mass and he is of Va.

Do you have an opinion on the wife of John Bailey, son of Stephen Bailey

The "Early Settlers of Lee Co. Va." state that Stephen was born circa 1625 in Gloucestershire, England. Then migrated to Westmoreland Va.
His wife was Anne Jeffries Walker. Also born in Gloucestershire. And was previously married. ( widow ? )

I would have to dig through my records and verify that. But, I believe that is correct.

John Bailey's wife was Elizabeth Walker. I dont believe she was any relation to Anne. Since Anne was widowed and married Stephen before they came to America. And if Elizabeth was descended from the passengers of the Mayflower. Then her family would have arrived here around the time Anne and Stephen were born. But, I would have to do some checking before I ruled out that they weren't by chance cousins.
As far as Elizabeth being from Mass....Again I would have to check and see where my records show her POB. But, from researching the Baileys in the past... I don't recall any mention of her being related to any Walkers that came on the Mayflower. But, if there are some sources indicating that. I would love to know about them . Most of the Mayflower passengers and there descendants are pretty well documented. (Even though only about half of them were Pilgims). So it shouldn't bee too hard to trace. If she is.
I am descended from that Bailey line through my mother.Who was born in Lee Co.
