Wiley, Edna L. Steele

BLUEFIELD — Edna L. Steele Wiley, age 84, of 679 Vista Road, Bluefield, W.Va., passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at a Bluefield hospital.Born on August 16, 1924 in Crumpler, she was a daughter of the late Jeff and Etta Mitchem Bailey. She formerly worked for the Council of Southern Mountain in Welch and for Hardees as a breakfast supervisor. She was a member of the Mountain Top Baptist Church. She was an avid singer and loved to sing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Roger Steele; her first husband, George Tarvin Steele; brothers, Elmer and William; and sisters, Edith and Ellen. She was the last surviving member of her family.

Survivors include: Husband, Ira Wiley of Bluefield; three sons, Russell Steele and wife Patricia of Glen Daniel, W.Va., Robert Steele and wife Nellie of Gary, Ralph Steele and wife Jenny of Falls Mills, Va.; a stepson, Barry Wiley and wife Jenny of Princeton; grandchildren, Tammy and husband Mike Terry of Huntington, Sherry and husband Randy Graham of Falls Mills, Va., Robert Steele and wife Becky of Bluefield, Brian Steele of North Carolina; four stepgrandkids, Barry, II and Beth Wiley of Princeton, Bryan and Stacey Wiley of Princeton, Chris and Marlana Wiley of Princeton, Brittany and Adam Powers of Princeton; three great-grandchildren, Miranda Graham, Maria and Robert Steele; five stepgreat-grandkids.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, July 3, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Ministers Thurman Belcher, Roger Lacy, and Roger Carroll officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where Kelly Steele, Ronnie Lusk, Phillip Parsons, Jim Wilson, Barry Wiley, II, Dickie Brewster, Clinton Payne and Walter Wright will serve as pallbearers.Friends may call on Thursday evening from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.Friends may visit www.cravens-shires.com to leave online condolences.Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell is serving the Wiley family.
