POW/MIA Korean War

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Luzerne County, Pennsylvania as his home of record. His remains were never recovered. Our government has no family contact at this time for this soldier

Soldier: MILTON WESLEY BAILEY
Born: 1931
Date of loss: July 17, 1951

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (79years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
Re: Homer Bailey: Loarin Co. Ohio

Had the rumors wrong it seems.
Homer Floyd Bailey (born and raised in Ohio) married Ethel Sara Beam.
Homer's dad was Samuel born 1858 in Pennsylvania.
Brother Henry was born in Glencoe, Minnesota, 1889.
Sister Pearl born in Iowa, 1893.
Sister Katherine born in Ohio 1894.
Half brother Alfred Manning born 1908.
Somewhere before 1900 she had two children who died and possibly one that is unaccounted for as yet.
Samuel married Josephine born 1870 in Germany (came here in 1878). They divorced between 1896 and 1899. He took Pearl & Henry to Iowa. Katie & Homer stayed with Josephine. Josephine then married Wilson Tripp in 1900 and divorced him in 1903. She then married Joseph Manning in 1904 and stayed married to him until she died of pnuemonia in 1916. Josephine's sister Mrs. Marstin took care of her at the end according to newspapers. Newspapers also said she had a brother who lived in Oberlin, Ohio.
I see that Pearl and her husband Henry Whitney took in Henry and Katherine during 1910 census. Until Katherine married Leo Mohrman when she was 17. Henry then goes back to Iowa and marries Jeanette.
Any one with some good hints or information would be appreciated by me.

Hi K. You might try a Google search for Sheila Mackenzie Jewett Bailey. Harvard, not long ago purchased some of her personal papers, genealogical info, pencil drawings, photos, etc. This lot was purchased from Carmen Valentino.
Please let me know what you find as I came across a pencil drawing that she did most likely in the teens or very early 20's.
Regards,
Ron

It is good to hear from you. I have found much information in the time since I have posted this message. I did not find much from people in Ontario, which is ironic when you think I live in the next province.

I was in England six months ago and I have met with many of Ruth Mary Bailey's decendants. I would love to share some of my findings with you and vice versa.
I am looking for my grandfathers brothers Howell W Bailey who was born about 1913 in arkansas and Edmond/Edmund/Edward Bailey who was born about 1911 in Corvallis Oregon. I have them listed on the 1930 census as being labour workers and then after that there is nothing. So any news on these two that you can find would be appreciated. Their parents were Howell William Bailey and Cecil Ophelia Bailey

angela.randall@ymail.com is my email

angela bailey-randall

Daughter of Jonathan Terrell & Nancy Riley - Meta (Terrell) Beach, second marriage (?) Bailey

I am looking for any information on Meta Bailey or her daughter Margaret Beach (or Beech). Meta's name may have been Sarah Almeda (or Almeta). (My mother called her "Aunt Mead".) Her maiden name was Terrell, and her first marriage was to Byrd F. Beach (Beech). She was divorced in Indianapolis about 1911 or 1912.

Meta's daughter Margaret was born in Indianapolis on 25 April 1907 and was referred to in the 1910 census as "M Lucile Beach."

The last mention I find of Meta was as "Meta Bailey" when she was named as a survivor in her sister's obituary in 1929. At that time, she apparently was living in New Lebanon, Gill Township, Sullivan County, Indiana. I find nothing further on either Meta or Margaret after the 1910 census when they were still in Indianapolis. Meta apparently died before 1940 because she was not mentioned in her father's obituary (Jonathan Terrell) when he died in 1940.

I would be so grateful for any information anyone may be able to provide.
