STERLING died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, at
Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Mount
STERLING.
He was born May 26, 1918, in Jacksonville, the son of Manual and
Ada Menezes Baptist. He married Doris Pahlmann in 1964 in
Bluffs.
Mr. Baptist was a 1935 graduate of Jacksonville High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and received the
Purple Heart for injuries received in the
Battle of the Bulge. He worked for J.I. Case Co. in the Quad Cities,
Diller Tile Co. in Mount
STERLING and along with his wife owned and operated Frado
Lanes Bowling
Alley in Mount
STERLING.
He was a member of Northminister Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville and attended the Mount
STERLING First Lutheran Church. He was a member of the
Brown County VFW Post 10399, Mount
STERLING American Legion Post 374 and
Rolling Greens Golf Club in Mount
STERLING.
Survivors: wife, Doris; two daughters, Jenny (husband, Joe)
Dawdy of White
Hall and
Sandy (husband, Gary) West of Jacksonville; son, Frank U. "Buz" (wife, Barbara)
Baptist Jr. of Jacksonville; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two nephews; and several cousins.
