hi caroline,my grandmothers maiden name was baptist but she died just over 2 years ago but she does still have 3 sisters who are still here if you give me a couple of days i will ask everything they can remember about their father and that side of the family.at the moment all i know is her fathers name was john baptist who was married to gladys (dont know her maiden name) they had 4 daughters and 1 son,the brother lived in newcastle upon tyne my grandmother and one of her sisters stayed in washington and the other 2 sisters married and moved to london.they were called jennie,john,mavis,gladys and iris.i wont hear from any of them for a couple of days but i will let you know as soon as i find out anything. lesley

hi caroline,unfortunatly im not related to the baptists from gateshead but as far as im aware there was a big family of them and one of them was the mayor of gateshead, maybe you could look up the local history, there should be something about the family you are looking for. hope this helps. regards lesley.

Hi there I am related to the Gateshead branch of the Baptist family by marriage. My father in law was the Mayor of Gateshead, he was callled Robert Ninian Baptist I am Married to his son Robert. Both his son and daughter (Carol) now live with their familes in Carlisle. It was quite a large branch of the Baptist family but all the girls had boys and my husband was the only male to carry on the name. I have a son and daughter Leo and Laura, Leo is the only surviving male Baptist that can carry on the line. Get in touch with me if you want more information my husband and sister in law would be happy to give you more information. Can I ask why you are asking about this branch of the family, because obviously we would be interested to know what you find out.

hi anita,i wasnt asking about this family baptist it was a lady named caroline (i was responding to her email). my family are another set of baptists but, she was wondering about a family that sounds like yours maybe if you contact her she may be a missing link in your tree.hope this helps
