Classification: Query
Surnames: BEACH, REED, DURAND
I am researching the John C. REED family of Wallingford, and Durham, Connecticut. I believe from family records that Amanda REED married "Beach" ca 1820-1825 and probably did not move too far from Durham, Middlesex County, where she was born. I find a family in the 1850 census in nearby Meriden, New Haven County, CT which would seem to be my target family, however I have no data to prove that fact.
They are enumerated in Dwelling 445/Family 589:
Warren H. Beach - 61 a shoemaker b. CT
Amanda " - 58 (born ca 1792)
Lyman " - 15
Sharing the dwelling are:
Family 590
Horace G. Beach - 29 a mechanic b. CT
Esther L. " - 21
Charles A. " - 2
Down the street with the Samuel A. Durand family is:
William Beach - 21 a farmer b. CT
Meriden was a part of Wallingford until 1806 and was incorporated in 1867. Records can be found in either or both towns occasionally, as with Durham and Wallingford.
The family seems to be in Meriden chiefly from 1830 - 1850 but disappears in 1860 US Federal Census record (unless I am overlooking them - not impossible). I am anxious to learn more about the family in question to determine if Amanda is the Amanda REED I am seeking. Does anyone descend from this family, or know anything about them? If so please contact me.
Thanks for your help.
