I am not sure if this helps but my fathers side of the family comes from Colombia...but not from Medellin but from Neiva and Baraya in the "state" of Huila. My grandfather is Serafin Cano, son of Celedonio Cano (who migrated to Colombia from Spain). I will ask if they know of any Cano family that moved to Medellin. Maybe if you ever speak to your relatives you can throw these names around too. Hope it helps.
