I am an adopted child born on November 29, 1941 to Marsha Delores or Delores Marsha Cathey. My birth mother was unmarried at the time. I am looking for family. I know my grandfather was a traveling dentist in Tennessee. I believe he and my grandmother were divorced. I think my mother had a younger sister who is dead. I also have a sister who was born on November 28, 1942. Both of us were named Carol Sue Cathey at birth in Ohio

I too am related to the Cathey family in Tennessee, but it goes back a lot farther than your dates. My gr. gr. grandfather was Archilald Cathey , He was killed in the Civil War. I have a lot of information on the Cathey family.but not as recent as your dates. I do know there are a lot of Cathys in Dickson Co. Tenn.
There is an annual Cathey news letter, I used to get it, but I forgot to mail in my $5.00. It has gone up to $8.00.
If you are interested I will give you the address. I think that is your best bet.
They tell of recent news.

Hey I too descend from who they say is the cathey family. I too am trying to find relatives. My Grandmother was Corrine Cathey daughter of Hiram and Dorothy Cathey. Corrine was killed they say when my father was little. My father was adopted in 1946 he has a sister named Sue Cathey and a brother named billy. Sue was born in 1944 and billy was born in 1942. They said that Corrine body was sent back to TN by train they lived in Dickson

I find a Cora born in 1894, but she was the daughter of James Webster Cathey and Althea Hargrove. She was probably born in Haywood County, NC. I'll keep looking.
