I am seeking info re Chudzik and Dziadura families from Jata/Bojanow/Nisko, Poland. Aleksander Chudzik was my gd-father Rozalia Dziadura, gd-mother. They died 1921-2 in or near Landestraj, Poland (Galicia).

I have a number of Chudziks in Ivanhoe, Tracy and Wilno, MN. They came from Poland to MN around 1895.

I am replying to you because I have just started looking for my family on my grandfathers side. I noted that your name is Kobylarz. My grandfathers name was Henry John Chudzicki
Chudzik was his name when entering from Ellis Island. However my grandmothers maiden name was Byra and her mothers name was Kobylarz. My grandfather came in thru Ellis Island and lived in New York and New Jersey and ended up in Michigan. Do you have any other names?

My grandmother was born in Bojanow in 1882. She was baptisted in St, Stanislaw Church in Bojanow.
Have you gotten any info on your family? Do you know where to write for information?I'm lost at this point. Hope you have better luck.

This is a reply to Nancy Pelc who posted a message to me on 8/5/01. Sorry for the late reply. I am recovering from extensive surgery in August. I may have some info you might be interested in as I have been searching for some time for info re my grandparents. My mother Katarzyna Chudzik lived in NY and NJ and also ended-up in Michigan, where I grew up.

Nancy, In your post you mentioned a grandmother with surname of Byra. I have a great-great-grandmother with a surname of Byra. Her given name was Zofia and married an Adam Kobylarz and had at least one son Walenty Kobylarz who married an Ewa Stolarz. If we have a possible connect let me know.

There were many immigrants that came over with the last name of Chudzikiewicz and some cut it down for convenience. I don't know if that is your case or not. However, many of them came through Canada. Our ancestors had this last name and changed it to Chudd. Also, some of the records of the ships were destroyed. Good luck, Judy Chudd

Hello. I am researching Kobylarz name. This branch came from near Kolbuszowa. In addition, I just had to respond because of two other surnames you mentioned. One of these is Byra. At the present time, I am not certain, but I think I have Drya or Brye ancestors. Also, the name Pelc is interesting. I have a Pelka ancestor. All those surnames come from near Kolbuszowa. With three close matches, this is either extremely coincidental; or there is some match, somehow.
