We have many Clares in family Tree, but from London. George Clare married Ellen Burken about 1860's. One son was James Edward who married Sophia Pimm and they had about 12 children. Ring any bells?

Don't think we have any connections in Herts but I'll keep it in mind.

London Clare's

Do you have more information on London Clare's before 1860's. I would like to know more about your Clare's. Perhaps we will connect further back. My line, so far has been in the London Area. I have a Samuel Clare and Sarah Baker who were married in 1772 in London. They had at least 4 children. Edward b. 1782 m. Sarah Winnington and Elizabeth Olding, James Clare, Sarah Armitage (Clare) and Sophia. Taken from Samuel's death in 1835. Edward and Elizabeth sailed to Montreal area in 1832. Do not have any records for the other 3 siblings or the parents. Wondering if George could be a child or grandchild of James. Have you run across any of these Clare's? Do you have any Clare's that went to America

Hi Michelle, Just to let you know there are and have been a few thousands of Clares living in the UK. Main concentrations seem to be in Cheshire (close to Liverpool!), Staffs, and Cambridgeshire. Could luck with your hunting, Nick Clare
