I am doing research for a neighbor Mrs Sarah (Hodges) Cloutier who married Robert George Cloutier after WWII in which he had served as a medic in the South Pacific. Sarah and Bob met in Oklahoma, where Sarah lived, at a USO dance during the war. Sarah was born in 1923 and is still going strong, Bob died a few years ago. I believe Mr Cloutier just had sisters as siblings, he was the only son. Bob grew up in Attleboro very poor and told me he had gotten a brand new pair of pants which he ripped going over a fench - which did not go well with his parents.

For all I know, you and Sarah may be best of friends.

My email is thepattens@mac.com My grandfather is Raymond Cloutier ..Eugene and Annette's youngest son. I have no info on Alphonse Drouin but there is a name "stichonliberty" on ancestry, she has lots of info, have you seen her tree yet? I can give you her email as well .. she also has pictures. Anything regarding her marriage to Alphonse Drouin would be great. There doesn't seem to be a lot of information regarding him. I have his lineage, but nothing personal about him at all.

ALEX CLOUTIER & IRENE BEDARD CLOUTIER
Pennington Co, MN - history p. 432 - 433

Alex Cloutier worked at the Saw Mill before being employed on the Soo Line Railroad. He continued working for the Soo Line 43 years. He served his country in WWI, being called back fra France - a few months after the war ended - to take care of four nephews and his mother.

The flu epidemic in Thief River Falls had taken the lives of his brother: Arthus and wife. The nephews were well known in the community:
Rev. Father Cloutier
Alfred Cloutier
Louis Clotier
Francis Cloutier

Alex resumed work on the Soo Line. In 1933, he married Irene BEDARD of Argyle, MN. Alex and Irene had a daughter: Gloria and a son: Arthur.

Bonjour Roxane,

I think I have the right information for you. I have Angelique, not Angeline.

Angelique Brisson, daughter of Francois-Xavier Brisson and Isabelle Laramee-Ferrier married Norbert Albert Cloutier in Somerset, WI, Ste, Anne church on 1 Jan 1900. Albert was the son of Isidore Cloutier and Mary Parent. Albert was born in Star Prairie, WI on 16 March 1865 and died on 22 Jan 1935 in Somerset.

I have 5 children to this couple: Mary b 1900, married to Edmond Veilleux in Somerset, WI, Ste, Anne on 15 May 1920, Melina b 1905, Charles b 1908, Ernest b 1914 d 1921 and Leonard b 1909 d 1979.

That's all I have.

If you can add any information on this couple's descendants, I'd appreciate it very much so that I can add to my database.
Bonjour Ginny,

I have a large database on the Cloutier family including Clukey, Clookey, Clockey, Clutchey Clouthier and others.

I have never found Clukeys nor Cleutier in Quebec. The surnames of most Irish immigrants have survived intact in Quebec. I believe all Clukeys in US were Cloutiers to start with and share the same ancestors. Same for Clouthiers in Mexico.

As for your own line, I'd be happy to look it up if you would e-mail me your line as you know it at: cloutierjraf@videotron.qc.ca

Salut !

Roger

I believe my family has this name change. The question is whether they were Clukeys from Ireland who through living in Quebec became Cleutier (my father's middle name) or Cloutier, or whether they were French to begin with, moved to Canada, and then Anglicized it to Clukey at some point, perhaps when migrating to NY State/Michigan.

First time I encountered Clukey was Joseph, who may be my gr-gr-grandfather.

--Ginny

He might have died in a work related accident involving a forklift. The boys were in their teens and were living with him and his 2nd wife when he died.

It really sounds as if it is the same person.

Although I am not one of his descendants, this "Pierre Cloutier" is listed in my files as "Peter Cluckey" who was born on or about 19 July 1833 in Michigan, and died after 1880. He was a son of Jerome Pierre and Rose (Baudin) Cloutier.

Peter Cluckey may have married twice, but he was first married to Eliza Navarre in Ottawa County, Ohio about 7 September 1856.
