Have only just come across your post. My Name is Jonathan Corpe and we have just started to try and chase our family back. We always had a dead end with my farthers grand farther Samuel Warfield Corp as we had no link from him. After the last week we have linked ourselves back to Robert Corp B:1760. It seems all our relitves come from the West Pennard area with my grand parents living Baltonsborough.

I see you mentioned in a post that your relatives come from the same area, do you tie into Robert Corp 1760? You also say you live near West Pennard, we are also not far...just near Yeovil.

Would be grateful for any information you have

My gg-grandfather, Thomas Ellison, married Elizabeth Corp, daughter of Rev. J. S. Corp, on 6 May 1847. She was born in Macksburg, Washington County, Ohio, on 18 Feb 1823.

I know that J. S. and Benjamin are related somehow, but I can't remember exactly how. Brothers?

Hello. Came across your 2008 posting. My grandfather George Corp ran away from Shepton Mallet in Somerset to London probably around 1880 or so. I know he was 11 yrs old at the time. He died in the late 1950's just before his 90th birthday. His parents were George and Fanny Corp I believe. His son Frank was my father. My family emigrated to the US in 1962. There is also a Corp connection to Stoke Fleming in southern England. There is a small ancient church there with a tomb in the floor of John Corp and his granddaughter Eleanore (dated 1354). From what I've been able to discover, the Corp family owned quite a bit of land around the Devon area and in the 1400's sold some to the City of Dartmouth. There are a few Corp artifacts in the Dartmouth Museum.

I understand from my father, that his father was one of seven brothers who all lived in somerset in the mendip area. This would probably be aroung C1910 Alongside the seven brother there were also 3 or 4 sisters.

Thanks for the reply. I was told my aunt(still alive 92) that the Corp family were cousins, my greatgrandmother stayed with them in Somerset in 1881 after the death of her first husband. I have tried linking them but no joy so far. Names - Hoskins, Fifoots - all based in Somerset and Monmouthshire, S. Wales and Glamorgan, S Wales. I will sort out the information I have and let you have it. Hope weather improves for your visit here! Will be in contact v.soon.

As I stated in my original message, I have the family info from Sidney after he moved to the US around 1850, but would like info on the rest of his family he left in England. I do not have much information on the Corp family, but Sidney had 3 brothers, Henry, Simon and William. Henry (no spring chicken)married Elizabeth Hoskins (no spring chicken)in 1872 in Newport South Wales - they had no children. As you know his father was Edward and His mother was Ann Hill (I think) I am trying to find out more and if I do I will let you know. The Corp family are tied up with my ancestors somehow - I understand they may be cousins but I cannot find a tie up yet. Monthmouthshire and Somerset are the two locations.Hope this helps.

My great-great-great Grandfather Sidney Corp followed Elizabeth Arnold and her family over to Ohio, and Sidney & Elizabeth were married soon after, then moved to Minnesota. We didn't have any info on the family Sidney left in England until I found 10 year old Sidney in a 1841 census (Somerset), so we now have the names of family members (father: Edward, mother: Ann, brothers: Henry, William, and Simon). Since I only have info on Sidney's branch of the family tree, wondering if any one out there has info on the rest of the family. Thank you.

i am a descendant of robert and ann (north) corp. robert b 1790, west pennard, somerset, england. robert married ann north abt 1816 and had children (henry, caroline, mary ann (my gr-gr-grandmother), levi and rachel north.

i also know about robert's marriage to charlotte. they had 8 children of their own. i would be happy to share info.

ALFRED CORP was born 1848 in ENGLAND, and died 1895 in MO. He married IRIS MAY CHAPMAN, daughter of OLIVER CHAPMAN and MARGARET YOEUM. She was born 1858 in MO, and died 1915 in MO.

ARLIE MARION CORP I (ALFRED) was born 1884 in NE, and died 1938 in MN. He married ADA FLORENCE SAGE, daughter of SQUIRE SAGE and ELIZA AUGUSTE. She was born 1886 in KS, and died 1967 in KS.

florence mary corp was married at willesdon in 1910 vol 3a page 338 not sure if this is the right person.also ethel corp was born in north wootton in 1890 thats about 4 miles from baltons borough. there was a florence and ethel living in west pennard around 1890s.

Dear Neil,
This may be a long shot, but you could be just the man I'm looking for!
My name is Pat Simpson, and my Maternal grandmother was Florence Mary Corp born in Somerset, [possibly Baltonsborough] in1885. Her father was a farm labourer. At the age of 16 she , her parents and I think two sisters called Ethel and "Lulu" went to London where her Dad worked on the horse drawn trams. She herself went into Service.

I have tried obtaining some record of her birth, but with not much luck so far
My late Uncle Leslie seemed to think that her Dad was a Bridgewater man, and her Mum a Taunton woman. On the 1901 Census there is a Florence from Baltonsborough, but no mention of the other girls names, hence the confusion!.
if you can throw any light on this, I would be really grateful.

I have found a Ross Corp in the 1860 census. He is the son of Benjamin Corp (52) and Nancy ? (46). They lived in Noble County Ohio, Jefferson TWP. These are the other siblings listed. John (22), Charles (20), Susan (18), Martha (16), Malissa (12), Olive (10), Joseph (7) and Ross (3). The 1850 Census for Wahington Co. Shows three other siblings living with Ben and Nancy. Mary (20), Francis (14) and William (4). I do know that many of the Corp family left Ohio after the Civil War and settled in Missouri and Kansas. Hope this helps.

Sorry it has taken so long to reply. This is a branch of my family I have not fully explored but I am willing to share what I have. My great grandmother was Mary Ann Hilton. She was the daughter of John Hilton and Mary Thornley Corp. Mary Corp was the daughter of Benjamin Corp and Nancy ? Her is some info from Civil War pension files on the Corp family.
"Abigail Corp the wife of Benjamin Franklin Corp died Febuary 21st 1859 in the township of Windsor, Morgan County Ohio. She had two children, James Madison Corp Born 6th day of December 1856 in Morgan County and John Bartlett Corp born the 27th day of March 1858 in the same County"

"John S. Corp a resident of Jefferson Township Noble county is the gaurdian of James Madison and John Bartlett Corp whose father Benjamim Franklin Corp died at Brownsville Ark on the 7th day of od Sept, 1863"

"On the 9th day of August 1855 Mr Benjamin F. Corp and Abigail Hutchison were by me legally united..."

hi there, I just startd doing research on my famiy tree. All i can trace back to for the corp side of my family is my great-grandfather Harry H. Corp, born jan 30,1909 , married to Inez (not sure on last name) and died in pasco, florida in1991. I believe Inez immigrated to the U.S.A. from Sweeden as a child. Harry and inez had 3 children-Lyle LaRoy Corp, Carol lynn corp, and another boy who as i know it ran away from home and was disowned by his parents. Hi,
I've not been doing genealogy for awhile but I received a notice from Ancestry that I had a message regardng Frank Corp. Francesco P Corp was my maternal grandfather (although I am adopted). My mother seemed not to talk about her family and there seemed to be many secrets so I started investigating but stopped when I was able to research and connect with my birthfamily. I am still very interested in the Corp history and would be glad to share anything I know with you.

You are looking for Francisco Pearl Corp, born Feb. 8, 1882, Bassett, Rock co., NE, son of James M. Corp and Lovina Sheldon. Is in WA State by 1900, working as a logger.. John M. is probably the son of Thomas Corp, who is probably the son of John Corp, born England and Elizabeth (mnu) born Massachusetts.
Frank had a daughter Lucille.

We are looking for info. on my Great grandfather --Frank Corp born in 1881,in the state of Nebraska.He married Mary Tilley from North Dakota.Searching also for any family descendents from His parents (names unknown to us)&siblings..Not sure just what county that he was born in or the town...Sorry the info. given to us handed down..Any help Greatly appreciated!!!!
