Is anyone or has anyone traced
Elisha Couch (abt 1753-1806) Glastonbury, CT, m. Gemima Doolittle 20 Dec 1775 Glastonbury, CT
Elisha Couch Jr. abt 1774, Glastonbury, CT, m. Lucy Loveland 8 Sept 1879 CT, migrated to Oneida County, NY 1820-1850 federal census
Elisha T Couch (1820-1896) m. Jane Dunham 24 Dec 1846 NY migrated to LaSalle County, Illinois 1856.
Eugene Couch and rest of family stayed in LaSalle County, Illinois.

My relationship is with LaSalle County, Illinois and I am able to verify the family connections after 1860. I am attempting to put this family together in NY.

Elisha T. Couch had a son name George H. who was 12 on 1870 census
Do you know what became of him after this census?

Yes, I have all of Elisha T Couch family, this is where my information starts, I want to go the next generation back.
George H. was born in Illinois August 1860, died 31 May 1928 and is burried in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Seneca, LaSalle County, Illinois.
1860 census he is 1 yr old.
1870 census he is 12 yrs old.
1910 census he is 51 yrs old living in Crotty, LaSalle County with his sister. He is listed as widow.
1920 census he is 61 yrs old living in Crotty, LaSalle County with his sister. He is listed as divorced.
For a while, he lived in Kankakee with his sister, Carrie S.
My sources are mainly census except the death is the cemetery book.

A few years back my daughter and I took on transcribing all the Couch Census in the us and trying to put them in a data base. so about All I have on him is what I have found in Census Record. I have the Couch web site at

As you can see I have lots of Family Charts listed and I show how anyone connected with the chart is connected.

thank you for your help, the census work looks great! I wll be taking a trip to IL to research soon, hopefully after the first of the year a nothern line of COUCHs can be started.
I am trying to see what others have done so I do not duplicate the research.

Surnames: Couch, Doyle, Bogert/Bogart, Huneke, Hausenbauer, Horn, Auger
I am related to Alice Amanda Couch (birthplace in census 1900 is given as 1861) m. Marriage approximately 1880) to John Richard Bogert. Alice's father: Walter Couch.
Alice is my great grandmother. She died approx. 1932 and is buried in Queens (Lutheran Cemetery).
