I have the same grand parents as you! Manley and Bernice Dixon were my fathers parents. I remember their home in Clinton and picking 4 leaf clovers. Gram (Bernice) had a bible full of them. As kids we would look for hours. She would come out and find one in minutes. I'm interested in any info you could share.
My father is Carl Dixon. He built a house in Benton Maine where I lived until I married.

My son just heard me cheering and came up the stairs to find out if I was OK. It is so exciting to make contact with a new member of the family. The photo I copied has "dad's grandfather Johnnie Dixon" written on it. It came from the family of the late Cliff Dixon, my uncle. His father would have been Silas Winfield/Windfield Dixon the son of Montaville. I am thinking that if S.W. wrote the notation then it might have been John H. Dixon. Of course there are so many Dixons....too many Dixons....it could be someone else but that is my theory anyway. I do have pictures of S.W. and descendants if that would be of any interest to you. S.W. married Martha Jane Burgess.S.W. worked for Armour Meat Packing Co. in OKC. Would love info on the Rawleys...have no info on them. Nancy

My Dixon's are from Dearborn-Owens-Ripley & Jennings, Indiana. Also from, Reno & Pratt Kansas. That is what I have found in my research to this point. They also had two sons that came to, Benton County Oregon. I don't recognize a connection. Let me know.

Glad to get such a quick response. Delila had four brothers that I know of. Would your grandmother be one of their children? I know that Delila's nine children were born between 1810 and 1828, so her brother's children should be in that era also. What other info do you have about your grandmother? Does anyone know anything about Solomon Dixon, d. 21 Feb 1841 in Otter Creek, Illinois? Solomon was married to Margaret Van Ausdell. I don't know where his father and mother's families came from and I need more information. HIs son Abraham Dixon was born on Aug 2, 1816, he was married to Mary Ruth Francis. Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi Karen, What counties in Indiana and Kansas do your Dixon's live in?
My third Ggrandparents lived in Orange Co. In. 1820-1860 and sons of theirs lived 1870's to 1920 in Washington Co. Jewell Co. and Norton Co. Ks.
Two sons went to the Milton-Freewater area of Oregon before 1900. Billy

Hi Karen, if I'm right in my research, you should go back to a Huit N. Dixon b. MD, m. Delila Fooks b. 1784, Worcester Co., MD. I have a Fooks grandmother b. 1816 in the same area and was wondering if anyone had done any research Fooks relation of your Dixon line. As far as the DIXON name, I haven't found a tie in yet.

I've come across this "Tinmouth" thread while searching for my own Tinmouth connections. John Robinson married Catherine Tinmouth (Bishopwearmouth in 1837). They moved to South Shields area.

Although I do not understand your connection with Tinmouth (the thread seems to suggest Tinmouth is a forename), I note that the provided fornames feature heavily in my Robinson line.

In 2001 Jenny Sennis was researching the Dixons of Manchester. I am the Dickson she is looking for. We were the Judickis. She was searching for her great great grandmother Anna Sennis nee Judicki and knew of her brother Anton Dixon in Chicago. Their brothers Paul and Joseph Judicki/ Udiski remained in Manchester uk together with their father Joseph. If anybody knows anything of Antony Dixon born 1882 emigrated to USA 1909, wife Mary , children Anna William and Edwin or Anna udiski born 1885, married john Senauskas ( Senofsky and Sennis) and her son Joseph please get in touch

I thought Lois (Penny's sister) was living in Columbus. You know throught all of the years I have never met their children and we're all cousins. I didn't even see them at my grandmother's or her sister's funeral (my great aunt Nystle "Ning"). I have just known Penny, Lois & Oscar. I have spoken to Penny last Thanksgiving. My grandmother (Dorothy), her daughters (Leona & Dorothy) - my aunts have all passed. The only family members I know of living still in Urbancrest are my cousins Josette (Dorothy Dixon Kennedy's daughter) and her children along with Elaine Turner (Penny). I am not aware of anyone else in the family living in Urbancrest. We have more in Columbus. I am down to the cousins now.

My Australian line of the Dixons originates from Newton-le-Willows in Lancashire. Catherine Dixon nee Hughes (widow of Henry) was transported to Australia in 1837 with her children: Thomas, Edward, Sarah and Catherine.

Are you still working on this Dixon tree? Would love to swap details and stories. We have traced our Dixon ancestry so far back to mid 1500's: a Walter Dixon, Yeoman, of Coldred, Kent, England. He married Philippa Dering of Pluckley in 1567.

Hi,
I can find a Thomas Dixon b1758(married 1778 to Anna Sutton of Crundall)with nine children from Molash?

The above Thomas is a brother of John Dixon b 1754 (married to Mary Tyler) from whom we descend. We have the line of descent from Walter Dickson of Coldred m 1567 d 1609 down to Thomas and John. The information was gathered nearly 20 years from a genealogist in Kent. I have just begun the process of trying to verify the details on the internet; so still getting used to the way this all works.

My Dixons came from the Chilham/Molash area of Kent c1600. In the 1900s they were living in both Kent and North London.

I have a John W. Dixon born 1815 in New Castle on Tyne, England. He died in 1884 in Farina, Illinois USA. Married to Annie E. Wilkinson. Two know children: John W. b 1854 and Jane Wailes b 1863.

I have never been able to find relatives of John W. Dixon.

I don't have any Dixon family members from Kent, but wondered if anyone else reading these messages may have Dixon ancestors from Norfolk.
My Grandfather, Robert David 1884-1958 was born in Northwold,
his father Robert David 1856 in Didlington, Thetford,
his father William in 1815 Foulden,
his father Thomas 1770 West Tofts and
his father, my GGGG Grandfather Thomas 1730 was also born in West Tofts Norfolk.
I'd be really pleased to hear from anyone who has links with any of these ancestors.

The James Linkerfelt Family; wife Mary A, children:
Henry so, Sarah 18, Jacob 16 and nephew John 15 are still in Bradley in 1880, so I quess this Henry wouldn't be yours, but it opened possibilites with the Lingerfelts and Dixons living so near each other.

Your best bet may be in trying to track Mary Butler and finding a county for their marriage, especially as William H doesn't seem to be sure where he was born.

Thanks, Bernice. I didn't have the 1880 census. You have a sharp eye. The problem I'm running into is that Will Dixon said he and his brother (?) were possibly named Lingerfelt. Their parents died, perhaps, and they went to live with a dixon, Dickson family. I can find no evidence of this and until you sent me the 1880 census, I wasn't having much luck beyond 1900.
