Louis EFKEMANN, b. ca 1900, d. 26 Nov 1975 Fayette Co, Ky, m. Loretta "Sister" ANDERSON. His mother may have been Anna Riedel who died March 1944 Lexington, Fayette Co, Ky.

1880 census for Cincinnati, Hamilton Co, Oh, pg 181B: Barney Efkemann, 61 b. Germany, married, laborer, parents b. Germany; Mary, 54 b. Germany, wife, keeps house, parents b. Germany; Henry, 25 b. Oh, son, single, machinist, parents b. Germany; George, 19 b. Oh, son, single, cigar maker; Maggie, 15 b. Oh, daughter, single, seamstress. The residents of this neighborhood were overwhelmingly of German origin.

1890-91 Directory for Cincinnati, Oh:

Hi Kathy, maybe this helps you. I found this list of emigrants, probably some of my relatives. I live close to Alstaette/Germany and right now my cousin is doing some research on genealogy. He says he has some historie back to te 16th century. If you want, i'll contact you as soon as i have some results. Maybe we're all relatives.

Gerhard Ante and his family are my relatives. His wife's mother was Mary or Maria Efkemann. I'm thinking that all of the Efkemanns are related but I haven't found the link yet. Have you tried to get birth and death certificates? I did a lot of research recently in Cincinnati. When I go over the material I will keep your Efkemanns in mind and let you know if I found any information on your family.

I am looking for information on my greatgreatgrandparents, JOHN and MARY EFKEMANN. JOHN was born about 1820 in Prussia and died in 1900 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He arrived in the US in 1848. They had 1 child that I know about:
MARIA (b. 1850) married GERHARD ANTE IN 1877
Any information would be appreciated.
