I have 2 letters from Glasgow: one dated 1815 from James Gardner 'engaged in the constant hustle and bustle of business', the other 1819 from his son William Gardner who is trading with Demerara. A Mr Tennent may be in business with James Gardner.
The letters are to Samuel Ferguson, nephew of James, first coz of William, living in Manchester UK. Sam's mother could be a Gardner, James Gardner could be married to a Ferguson. Sam's mother and Jas Gardner's wife could be sisters!
Mr Stark is mentioned travelling to 'America', possible Nova Scotia/Canada with Patrick Ferguson. Transcripts of letters available.
