I am very excited to see your message. Joseph Fidalgo is my grandfather. I know that he also came through Mass and eventually went to Yonkers, NY. My grandmother's name is Vandina Stephens. What year and state did your grandfather pass away?

I am told that my grandfather changed his name to DaSilva, later Silvia, from Fidalgo. I'm not sure but was told he came to the stateds in the early 1900's and was born about 1900. Ermine was his first name, and he lived and died in Fall River, Ma. His sons have all passed away, including my Father but two daughters are still alive, I will try to research further, as I have become curious.

I am the granddaughter of Arminda Fernandes Fidalgo's brother Antonio Fernandes from Montalegre Portugal. My mother (Antonio's daughter) is Maria Fernandes Jorge from Springfield, MA.

El Padre de mi abuelo: Jose Fidalgo Garcia, nacio en Cereceda, Asturias (bien cerca de Pola de Allende), al Oeste de Oviedo (segun me explica mi padre). Llego al pueblo de Carolina, Puerto Rico a mediados del siglo 19 (1855-1895) y se caso con Dona Josefina Diaz y tuvieron 2 hijos varones (de los que conosco yo, no se si hubo hijas).

*Jose Fidalgo Diaz dob.: Unknown; Pob.: Carolina, Puerto Rico. (hermano de mi abuelo. Considerado Hombre Ilustre en Puerto Rico).
* Angel Fidalgo Diaz 1913-2000 ; Pob.: Carolina, Puerto Rico.
Este es mi abuelo casado con Dona Amparo Anglero-Calderon 1914 - 2000 y vivieron en Carolina, PR toda su vida donde establecieron muchos negocios y tuvieron 7 hijos. en orden de nacimiento son:

* Belen Amparo Fidalgo Anglero casada con Conde Renato Pignataro (residen en Bologna, Italia. 4 hijos varones). 4 nietos.
* Juan Angel Fidalgo Anglero casado con Mariana Dominguez (el murio 1995 ella continua en PR, hijos; 2 barones 3 hembras). 8 nietos
* Jose Luis Fidalgo Anglero casado con Annie (appellido desconocido) tienen 1 varon y 5 hembras todos en PR. 11 nietos.
* Juan Carlos Fidalgo Anglero casado con Gloria Cordova tienen 2 varones y 2 hembras totods en PR. 4 nietos.
* Luis Angel Fidalgo Anglero casado y divorciado de Rita (apellido desconocido) con 1 hijo por adopcion. Casado nuevamente (nombre desconocido) 1 varon del segundo matrimonio. 0 nietos. Todos en PR.
* Fernando M. Fidalgo Anglero casado con Ernestina Munoz Gonzalez (mis padres) 4 varones (siendo yo el primogenito) y 2 hembras. 6 nietos hasta la fecha. No todos en PR.
* Constancia "Connie" Fidalgo Anglero casada y divorciada(nombre desconocido apellido Muniz) y fallecida 1979. 1 varon 2 hembras, no todos en PR. 3 nietos.

My name is Fernando Fidalgo (as well as my Father's) and my son too. I was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico 10/01/1966. Feel weird to find someone else with the same name.

I was born in Castanheira do Ribatejo in 1966. Never thought I'd meet someone else from such a small town. My dads name is my name as well, Fernando Fidalgo.. perhaps you can ask your dad or mom if they knew him.. the town I assume had a little over a couple of thousand people living there so they would most likely know each other.

My grandfathers (deceased) name was Jose but he lived in Povos (near Vila Franca De Xira) in Portugal. I never really traced my family heritage there but someday I do plan too.

My grandfather was born in Sobral de Lagoa Portugal in 1907 and came to Massachusetts in his teens. His parents were Jose and Rosalina. Sound familiar to anyone?

Hola.
Surfeando por el internet encontre este site, buscando origenes de mi apellido le encontre, decidi escribirle porque es curioso que los apellidos sean similares. Mi Padre es hijo de imigrantes españoles y portugueses, nacido en Mexico (Montemorelos Nuevo Leon). En este lugar vive la familia "Fidalgo". En Mexico los unicos con esta combinacion de apellidos son mi padre y mi tia (aun vivos). Curiosamente el unico nieto de mi padre se llama Daniel. Coincidencias.

Hello, i live in Madrid (Spain), my family is from La Coruña, in the north of Spain, this is very close to Asturias (in relative terms). All my ancesters up to 4 generations come from there. As long as i know this family name was originated somewhere around Galicia and Leon (also in the north of Spain) and is an old word that means "fine man" which was originally used before the word in spanish for knight.
