Hello again, Barbara. My Dennis
Garrett b. 1650
Baltimore, MD lived and died (1 Sept 1691)in
Baltimore MD. He was murdered by an
English Captain in the Brittish
Army or Militia, who was convicted but pardoned by the crown. Some justice--friend of the governor. Attacked him with a sword. Cracked his skull and the poor man suffered for several days before he died. Dennis married Barbara Stone. As I understand it, some of the
Garrett men moved down into VA. Dennis
Garrett and Barbara Stone had two daughters, Joanna/Johanna, who married John Coale/Cole.
The other daughter was Frances (mine), who married Nicholas
Haile in
Baltimore. All of these records are on file in
Baltimore. Nicholas
Haile helped pay for the building of a church there. There are several books showing the official records of
Baltimore, MD. Easily found in libraries or contacting
Baltimore Coo., MD or the city.
Dennis
Garrett was the son of Francis
Garrett and Mary Dennis. Francis was the son of John
Garrett, both born in
Eng. Mary Dennis was the daughter of John and Barbara Dennis.
Barbara Stone was the daughter of Thomas and
Christiana Stone.
John Coale's ancestors could not be traced by Ralph E
Tuttle, who compiled "The
Cole family of
Jefferson Co., Ohio". John is the ancestor of the
Jefferson Co. Cole family. John is the one, who married Joanna/Johanna
Garrett. As I pointed out she is the sister of my Frances
Garrett Haile. Both girls, whose father died young, were raised by their mother's 2nd husband, who mentioned them in his will-John Broad. Some people thought Frances
Garrett was John Broad's daughter and had married a
Garrett, but no--she was born a
Garrett and was John Broad's step-daughter. Iris
