Carol Phelan  (View posts) Posted: 3 Apr 1999 7:37AM GMT
I am looking for family members from Canada, Northeastern U>S> Ireland and Massachusetts. My grandfather, Edward Phelan, legally changed his name to Whelan. Family members have changed their spelling to and from any of the above names. If you think you are or may be a family member, drop me an e-mail and we can compare birthdates and family member names.

I am interested in any information on the Thomas WHALEN family of Nova Scotia, and possibly Quebec. He married Ellen Lonergan approx 1870, and they had son Thomas, and others. Unknown at this time. Thomas married Jesse McLeod, approx 1895 and had son James b 1900, daughters Peggy and Dorothy WHALEN, who relocated to the Ohio region. Any WHALEN information would be greatly appreciated.

Your name

there was a james whalen from Nova Scotia who then came some how to massachusetts. He was my great grandfather. He had a brother named Donald who was a catholic priest in glocester ma. I believe their mother was Katherine/Catherine (maiden name macintyre).
My mother lived as a child in Beverly, her name was Janice Whalen Vallis, w/ bro. John Whalen.
Dont know if this is the same line as your thomas whalen. Do any of the names sound familiar.
