Wlliam L. Hardin married Effie May Soards in 1897 at Lee's Summit, Jackson, Missouri. They had one son. About 1900 in Nevada or California, Effie was thrown from her horse and had slipped into a coma. William was sent for, but he stayed only long enough to pick up his son and left for parts unknown.
