Seeking information on a James Hardin b. abt. 1816 in N. C. He is listed in the 1850 Bedford County, Tennessee census with wife Anna A. age 34, b. in Va. and 7 children. Also living with James is Elizabeth Napier age 80, b. in N.C. Does anyone have James' sibling, parents, grandparents, etc. I am trying to connect James Hsrdin with Elvira Hardin who married Alfred Napier. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Milo B Hardin son of William & Sarah Hardin was born Dec 1862 in Windham, Johnson Co.,Iowa; died 6 Nov 1926 Pender, Thurston, Nebraska. He married Maud Percila McGonegal on the 16 January 1890 in Juniata, Adams, Nebraska. She was born in Nov 1871 in the state of Michigan.

To then two children were born to them, that I know of;

Harold Clement Hardin born 30 Jan 1891 Juniata, Adams, NE, (he wed Caroline M Godberson on 4 Feb 1913 in Columbus, Platte, Nebraska) and they had two children;
Peral M Hardin - born abt 1916 Pender,Thurston, Nebraska(wed Victor Otto Bogner on 22 Nov 1942 in Madison, Madison Co., Nebraska. Victor was born 13 Apr 1921 in Crofton, Knox, Nebraska.)
Milo H Hardin - born 09 Jul 1916 in Nebraska died in Medford, Jackson, Oregon 05 Aug 1972 (wed to Edith M ?, born 29 Jul 1909 place unkown, and died Medford, Jackson, Oregon on 16 Oct 2001)

Leonard Martin Hardin born in Oct 1893, Nebraska (he wed Matilda Hardin) no other information on this son.

I do not recognize the towns you mentioned. Only familiar with Leeds, AL. Rufus lived in Cahaba Heights area of Leeds or Birmingham. Manuel lived in the old home place in Leeds.

Yes! My mom, Sylvia, was the youngest of 10 Hardin children. Two of her 5 brothers were Manuel and Rufus.

Looking for information on Henry.Henry is my 3rd great grandfather, ALL the information I have says he was son of Col John Hardin, I need to confirm it because Col John Hardin was killed by Shawnee Indians in 1792. I have information dicated to my Grandmother by my great Grandmother listing births deaths etc, even have some info from the Hardin bible. I also have the problem of names for John Hardins wife, I have it as a Nancy not what is listed with other historical documents. My 3rd Gr Grandfather did marry Lucy Bridges on 11 Dec 1817, so any help would be appreciated.

Patrick Hardin of Idaho and Texas

Patrick Hardin married Margaret (Maggie) Roberts in Idaho Co., Idaho about 1905. Their daughter was born in 1907 and a son about 1909, both now deceased. Patrick went back to Texas and left Maggie with the babies about the time the son was born. He was never heard from again. The family never knew what had happened to him. We wondered if he was related to John Wesley Hardin. If anybody knows about Patrick, we would appreciate knowing what happened to him --where and when he died. Thank you. Iris

Wlliam L. Hardin married Effie May Soards in 1897 at Lee's Summit, Jackson, Missouri. They had one son. About 1900 in Nevada or California, Effie was thrown from her horse and had slipped into a coma. William was sent for, but he stayed only long enough to pick up his son and left for parts unknown. If you have a lot of Hardin research, have you heard of William L. Hardin, who married Effie May Soards at Lee's Summit, Jackson, MO.? In 1897. They had a son. She was riding a horse in CA or NV, was thrown and in a coma for about a month. Her husband was notified, picked up their son and left for parts unknown. Guess he thought she would die, but she didn't. That was about 1900. If you have information about them, we'd love to hear about the boy or his descendants. Thank you, Iris

My paternal grandfather was Hobart Hardin, married to Pansy Pate and they had ten children that lived. Everett, Charles, Dean, Vanice, Ralph, Annise, Floy, Glenna, Faye, & Alta. They were originally from Flagpond, TN. They moved to BeeLog/Micaville, NC and Hobart (1901-1993) Pansy (1904-1993) lived in Micaville until their death. The children live/ed in Marion, NC, Burnsville, NC, Morganton, NC, and Lenoire,NC.

My husbands great grandfather name is also James H. Hardin, he was first married to Virginia T. White, what I am finding out is Virginia died in 1881, then James married Sarah F. Green she was born in 1868, they married in 1886, they had 3 children Samuel B. Hardin March 1887, William K. Hardin april 1890, and Bertha W. I'm looking for connections to Diantha Hardin Gould, may have also been listed with her mother's maiden name Goodin. She was born in Missouri in about 1878, family story says her father (last name Hardin) was killed by his brother in a land dispute while her mother was pregnant with her. They may have been married in Cherokee custom but the marriage isn't recorded anywhere I've been able to find. Don't know father's first name. Mother's name was Missouri Goodin and she was an orphan raised by Harden Warren and his wife Lousia Went. Any help finding family connections, especially to the Hardin or Goodin branches would be much appreciated.

Margaret Hough (Maggie) was the daughter of Hugo Horterson (or Hatterson) Hough and Charlotte Hornsby. They were both born in South Carolina, Hugo was born in Charleston. Both are buried in Morgan Cemetery in Montgomery County, TX.

I'm researching this Hough family to see if it ties into mine. So far I haven't found a link. But I was also trying to find out Margaret's husband's full name.

And yes, the name is pronounced "Huff".

My great grandmother was Isabelle Diar Hough Purswell. She lived a couple of houses down from Hugo Hough in the late 1800's so they knew each other for sure but I haven't been able to establish a relationship.

Hugo and his wife are on the Find-a-Grave website in Morgan Cemetery. There are photos of them there.

I don't know much about Margaret Hough. I don't know the name of her husband, other than his last name was Hardin.

A letter from Margaret's granddaughter says her name was pronounced "huff", that Mr. Hardin divorced her, and that he later remarried and is buried at Diball, Texas. Margaret argued they were not really divorced, because the courthouse where the record was filed burned down. Margaret's mother was Charlotte Hough (don't know her maiden name), and the family moved to Texas from the Carolinas right after the Civil War.

Margaret is included in the 1920 US Census living with her son Samuel W. Hardin, who is the head of household. It shows she was born about 1855-1856.

If this seems to be the same Margaret Hough you're interested in, I'd appreciate it if you would let me know what more you know about the family.

OAKVILLE, Iowa -- Ray Louis Hardin, 64, Oakville, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, at his home.

Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, Oakville. The Rev. Chris Thomas will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by John Zippe and Shirley McCord. Pallbearers are Marion Brown, Dale Wehage, Bill Kalb, Jerry Rupe, Bob Perrenoud and Doc Marshall. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Beading, Bill Brown, Chuck St. Pierre, Bob Farm and Henry Wagner. Burial will be at Edwards Cemetery, Oakville.

Visitation is after 2 p.m. today, with family present 6-8 p.m., at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello. A memorial fund has been established for the Great River Hospice of West Burlington and the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Hardin was born April 15, 1938, in Oakville, the son of Paul C. and Viola Aberle Hardin. He married Joyce Elaine Faris Jan. 19, 1957, in Burlington.

He graduated from Oakville High School in 1956.

He served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

He farmed for several years, then drove for Nelson Trucking, Mediapolis, and then worked at Wal-Mart for 11 years.

He loved to garden and fish and was an avid cubs fan. He enjoyed spending Sundays with his family.

Survivors include his mother; his wife; a son, Mike Hardin of Wapello; four daughters, Tari Heiniger and husband Doug, Gena Heiniger and husband Tim, Joy Hardin and Forest Branch, all of Oakville, and Lori Hardin of Burlington; three brothers, Don Hardin and wife June of Wapello, Ken Hardin of Mediapolis and Lynn Hardin and wife Teresa of Oakville; a sister, Sandra Whitlow and husband Floyd of Raytown, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Pat Hardin of Burlington; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Dean.

“I was born in Washington, D. C. in the year 1847... My mother's name was Elizabeth Scheckle.... my father, Charles Wesley Hardin, deceased. Sister was Nancy Hardin,
who married a man by the name of Tracy, who lived in Washington, D. C., and whose wife was my own aunt, which entitles the following legal heirs attached to the will of my great-grandfather William Henry Harden, as made in the State of Virginia in 1725.
My father, Charles Wesley Hardin, was a double jointed man and was a carpenter, employed on repairing the Capitol at Washington, D.C . after the English burned the
east end of Capitol at Washington, D.C . in the year 1850. My wife's father was James Taylor, a Cherokee Indian, who brought me when I was only 6 years old to Andrews,
N.C. where I have lived for 85 years and my father, Charles Wesley Hardin who was
afraid to live in Washington, D.C. on account of the doctors who wanted his body,
as he was the only double jointed man in the world at that time. And this is why he
came to the mountains of North Carolina, to hide from the medical society of America
until death. Where his remains are now buried at the old grave yard, near Andrews,
Cherokee County, N.C.”

Looking for James Henry Oliver Earl K. Polk Hardin. With a name like that you would think he would be easy to research. I believe he was from South Carolina. I don't have birthdate. But I believe he died between 1862 and 1865. I believe he fought in the Civil War. His wife's name was Amanda. They had one child, James (Jim) A. Hardin, birth Oct 23, 1863. After he died she married a Thomas Channell of Webster Co., MS. Any info would be appreciated.
