I hope someone replied to you. I haven't been on line for a while. One of my grandfather's sisters, Augusta K. Haubach, married John Angstman on 29 May 1890. They lived in Livingston New Jersey. My grandfather was Christian Henry Haubach. He died from burns he received at his place of employment when he was 57 years old. Their mother and father were Ludwig Haubach and Elizabeth Klein, both natives of Germany.

Hello everyone. I hope someone on this string receives this message. I am a male Haubach, with at least a small, but useful amount of knowledge on my lineage dating back to my grandparents. I can source a great deal more information. As was provided by one of my direct relatives, on this site, circa 2006 or so, there are plenty of us in the PA/OH area. Let's talk, I'm very interested in finding out more of my history, and if there is indeed a brewery with the family name, then I would like to have a sip of that as well!

Bruce & Mary Ann, I have some photos and other information I've acquired from various sources these past few years. I will be glad to scan and email them to your personal email in a week or so. I know how hard it is to acquire things about our family. Most of the things I have, but not all, are from the Grandma Haubach's side, the Stottlemyers. My personal email is jakspot@sprynet.com. If you are interested in cemetery photos, I'll take them and send them along too. Genealogy is really spiritually uplifting. It's amazing to find lost cousins and meet them or to find some record on the internet about things you had no idea about.
Let me know your interests.
I was glad to find your note on the bulletin board. Your father was my dad's first cousin. My dad was George Haubach, your grandfather's brother. When I was getting married in 1960 and your father was still driving the delivery truck for Rikes (no longer in existence), whenever I was home when he delivered a gift, he would stay to watch me open it. He was really fun.
I was at your father's funeral, but I never knew that your mother passed away until recently or I would have been there.
You may have this, but I found a copy of a newspaper article my mother saved about your mother being a War bride. It includes a photo of your mother and father.
Let me know if you don't have it. I can scan and email it to you.

Well, I would guess since Mother & her brother George are not in the photo, they were not yet born. Grandma was 42 when Mom was born. Btw Christian would be 140 this month !
On one of my sister yvonne's semi annual visits with Mother she, unknown to me, picked out a lot of family photo's & took them back to New Carlisle, Ohio. I didn't learn of this until 5 years ago. I do remember Mother telling me that I reminded her of her brother Edward because we were both broad shouldered & were alike in many ways. That must have been from the neck down cause I look nothing like him & he had a mop of hair but I am bald, just like Uncle's Lester, George & Walter. I remember Mom showing me a picture of Edward & I think it is one Yvonne left behind so in the next few days I will go through the box & try to find it. If I have it I will send you an email copy & also anything else that might be of interest to you.
My email address is : leo8743@tampabay.rr.com
Take good care,
Bruce

So good to hear from you. The picture that I have does not have the 2 younger kids. It appears that it has Carl, Edward, Lester, Walter and Alice along with Christian and Elizabeth. I would be glad to send you this picture. Why don't you give me your email address...

I am just trying to piece together my father's family. I think that this might be the only picture -- but if I run across any I will surely share.

I was also at my Elizabeth's wake in 1961......Don't remember much about it.

My father (Edward) was very close to Uncle Lester -- and I remember that Uncle used to go to Florida and see your mom...

Take care -- good "talking with you"

Hello Mary,
My name is Bruce Crume & I am the son of the late Marie A. Crume ( Haubach ). Your great grand father Christian & wife Elizibeth had 7 children-----5 boys, Carl, Lester, George, Walter & Edward & 2 girls, Alice & Marie. I was home on leave from the Navy & was one of the pall bearers at Grandma Haubach's funeral in May, 1961. Mother lost her father when she was 12 years of age & then lost her brother, Edward, 5 years later. Uncle Lester had close contact with us as well & was a great man. You mentioned you were in pocession of a picture of Christian & 5 of the children. Since Mother was the youngest child she is no doubt in that picture. Would you be so kind as to send me a copy of the picture by email. I only have one baby picture of Mom & it had been scribbled on by a brother when they were young children.
Thank you very much & if I can help you fill in any gaps that others have not already done so, please let me know.

Best regards,
Bruce Anthony Crume

Hi. My name is Mary Ann Magliacano (Haubach) My father was Edward Thomas Haubach, his father was Edward Thomas Haubach, and my great grandfather was Christian Haubach. My great uncle Lester was very close to us. He is the reason that we have the few pictures that we do.

I was born in Dayton and left in 1968 when I got married. We are currently going through old pictures and I ran across one of Christian's family -- with 5 children.

My father passed in 1996, his father was killed by a train in I believe 1932...

Any further informationb you could provide would be great.

Mary Abnn

I have a good deal of information of the Angstman family going back to at least 1822. There may be a connection to Louis Angstman also around that time. They could be brothers. Any info?

I am also looking for information on the Newton Center / Boston Joyce / Fitzgibbons. My grandmother Elizabeth Fitzgibbons married Edward Joyce around 1915 /16. They had five children, Muriel, Maragaret (Peggy), Grace, Edward and Kevin. (Grace was my mother). My grandfather ran a chain of clothing stores in the 30's and 40's called Joyce Brothers. Any help or info would be appreciated.

Hello Dot,

Thanks for the additional information. Yes, Betty & Sandy are both first cousins of mine but due to our different geographical locations we have not seen each other in years. Betty & Frank visited Mother a few years back & I believe Sandy has had recent contact with my sister, Yvonne. Mother was the last surviving child of Christopher & Elizabeth Haubach. We lost Mother june 23,2007, just shy of her 91st birthday. I am not involved with geneology research but it is always interesting to hear about the distant family. Mother did not know the circumstances of her father's arrival in Dayton & your explanation has cleared this matter up. She had told us he was either from or was born in NYC. We knew Grandma was born in Hagerstown, Md. in a log cabin. As I mentioned earlier I have their original marriage certificate. I wanted to know more about my cousin, Walter Haubach Jr.,Phd. I know after many years working for Mansanto he went to work for the AEC, possibly in Maryland. I believe he was involved with secret research for the government & died very suddenly from cancer. He was also a WW2 army veteran of the European Theater.
Thank you again for your reply, Dot.
Bruce

Hi Bruce,
Thank you so much for the message. When I posted my message back in 2005, I received a reply from Sandra Jacques, who must be your cousing. She and Betty Lusk were very helpful to me and saved me a lot of research. Betty, in particular, had done a lot of work. My mother was Helen Angstman Weferling. Her mother was Augusta Haubach. The children were separated by my grandmother's stepmother and my grandmother and a sister were left with an aunt and uncle in New Jersey, while the other two children were taken to Dayton. My mother kep in touch with Walter & Cecil Haubach. I met Walter and Cecil a couple of times when they were in NJ. I also met their daughter Kay.

In 2006 my husband and I were planning a trip to Germany. We wanted to visit Fleisbach but had not planned to contact anyone. Sandy suggested we contact Frank Haubach, who has a website Haubach.com, because he went to college in Ohio. We did. He gave us the name of a hotel in the area and asked that we contact him when we arrived in Germany. When we hot to our hotel we called him and he said, "My father can't wait to meet you." He told us his uncle (Erich) was having a barbeque for us. WE had a marvelous time and also met Frank's (father). sister, Helga. The next day Frank (father) and his wife Cristel drove us up the middle Rhine River from Rudesheim almost to Koblenz. We crossed the river a few times, because they knew every road to take to get the best view. We had a fabulous time! The next morning, Helga wanted us to visit her house, which we did. We all went on a walking tour and saw the house where Ludwib was born, the school and the church were all of the Haubach's were baptised. The house where Helga and Frank were born served as a US Army hospital during the war. It was truly a life-changing experience!
Thank you again for your message.
Dot (Weferling) MacArthur

Hey Bruce, this is your cousin Sandy. Dot MacARthur who is listed below is also a cousin. We all share the same great-grandfather, Lewis/Louis Haubach. Her grand-mother was one of Christian's sisters. If she doesn't answer, email me at home and I'll send you the information she supplied me. My home email is jakspot@sprynet.com. All Haubach's have to be related, but no one seems to know the answer. There was another Haubach, Gustave, who was in NY at the same time as Louis. I don't know if he had any brothers who came to the US at the same time.

Hello,
I thought I would type my first cousin's name in my browser to see what would come up. His name was Walter Haubach Jr & early in his career, before receiving his PHD, he was a chemist with Monsanto in Dayton, Ohio where he was born. His father was my mother's sister, Marie Crume & Mom's maiden name was, of course, Haubach. The Christ you refer to I believe was my Grandfather, Christian A. Haubach. He was killed in 1927 at a factory fire at the Inland manufacturing Co. in Dayton, Oh. I can provide a few details about the Dayton Haubach's if anyone is interested. However I see that this is a very old post & I may not get a reply. My name is Bruce Crume, I live in Lakeland, Fl. & my email address is : leo8743@tampabay.rr.com
BTW, I am presently looking at Christian & Elizabeth Haubach's original marriage certificate that is mounted & framed on the wall beside my PC. It is dated August 15, 1894.

I can add to your message a little. Our gr-grandfather Louis Henry married 2) Mary Bender. They may have come to Dayton first, then Galion OH, but they ended up in Caldonia, OH. She lived with her daughter-in-law Mary (Haubach) Sickel, the sister of Catherine. That may be how Christian ended up in Dayton OH. He was here as far back as the 1890 Directory. By the way, I am in Dayton OH. I'll be glad to share whatever I have if you email me at the address above. I'll still have to enter some in the computer, but I'll try to get it done. Christian married Elizabeth Ann Stottlemyer. She was born in Hagerstown MD. They had seven children: Carl, Edward, Lester, Walter, Alice, George, and Marie. My father was George. He died on 12 Feb 1969 of heart disease. He was only 53 years. The only one living is Marie who lives in FL. I believe she is about 85 years old. Sorry for this run-on note. It's exciting too hear about more ancestors. Do you know anything about the brothers and sisters, if any, of Louis (Lewis) Henry or Henry Louis, our gr-great-grandfather? All I know is that he lived first in NYC then Astoria LI, NY. They are buried in Astoria too, but I haven't found which cemetery. Great hearing from you!!

Sandy,
I did meet Walter Haubach and his wife. They were visiting my parents, Duke and Helen Weferling, in New Jersey many years ago. They had a daughter living in the Plainfield area at the time. My parents had been to visit them in Ohio on a couple of occasions and also visited with another cousin who owned a farm in Caledonia. I only found out my grandmother, Catherine was from New York when I found my grandparents marriage certificate. I have a nephew, my sister's son, who currently lives in Astoria, New York. I will see if he can find out anything about Louis (Lewis) Henry or Henry Louis from that end. Some of this information I did not know I had. We recently moved from New Jersey to Ann Arbor, MI. I was cleaning out a strong box that I thought contained only medicare and social security records of my mothers and found several family papers. I will type of what I have and trye to forward the information to you as an e-mail attachment. If that does not work I will type it in an e-mail here.
Thank you for your help. This is great! I will let you know if my nephew finds out anything. Dot

Sandra,
Thank you for your message. Catherine is definitely my grandmother. My great grandfather's second wife, left him and took my grandmother's brother with her and moved to Dayton, Ohio, where she had relatives. She left my grandmother Catherine, who went by the name Augusta and her sister, Elizabeth, in the care of and aunt and uncle, Mary and Christian Schaefer in Bloomfield, New Jersey. Mary was Mary Klein Schaefer and I have some dates from a cemetary in Newark, New Jersey, of other Klein relatives. I have just started my research and will forward what information I have to you. Thank you very much for your reply.
DotM

Hi, Catherine was the sister of my great-grandfather Christ or Christian. The only information I have is from a cousin of mine, but Christ was one of four children, the rest girls. There was Mary b 1865, Augusta b 1868, Christ b1870 and Elizabeth b 1872. Apparantly Augusta's first name was Catherine. You'll never know how glad I am to have found someone connected to our family who isn't in our direct line. I don't know if my cousin has had any contact with anyone outside the line through Christ. I have the married names of all the girls but have never looked them up. Haubach is such a rare name, it is very hard to find information about them. Surely we must all be related, but it must date way back in German history. I'm looking forward to your response. Do you have more Haubach information?

The other info you have at
worldconnect, led me to your message here. I just learned today, I had been given the wrong married name for Mary.
A call to the Windsor Nursing Home in CO drew a blank with the surname, Holbrook/Holbrick. We had been waiting on additional information from OK. Much to our surprise the name was Mary Haubach that died at the home in CO. We had been searching the wrong name.
Mary's maiden name was Clingan and she was from OK. Her siblings were Thelma and Clarence Clingan. I can take you back several more generations on the Clingan line.
You can contact me at hootybear@aol.com
I did write to your personal email as well.
Thank you,
Pat

Hi, one of my cousins has traced our Haubach line back to Germany - that is- our direct line. We do not have any info about cousins, aunts, or uncles who may have come over. We have a cousin in Germany who did not even know that a Haubach had migrated to the US. I have found other Haubach's but do not know if we are related. If you email me directly, I will email you what little info I have about a Haubach that was in California in the 1800s. His first name, Christian, is a name we've seen in our family line, but do not know if he is related. Please keep in touch.

In researching my JORDAN family, I came across an Edward HAUBACH who married Mabel LOWN about 1898-1900 in or around Topeka, Shawnee, Kansas. My research indicates Edward probably born ca 1878 in Quincy, Adams, Illinois, s/o Edward Charles HAUBACH and Anna Louisa Frederika HAUBROCK. I like to verify I've found the correct parents for Edward HAUBACH and verify HAUBACH-LOWN marriage. By 1910, Edward and Mabel were in Canadian Co., Oklahoma. i don't think they had children, so this info has to come from a collateral source of some kind. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

With postage and handling it cost about $50. I knew it might be a waste of money when I ordered it, but I had never seen anything like it advertised before especially since my uncle was a name listed on the advertisement, but I just had to see. So keep this in mind if you or your family members receive a card.

I am a Haubach, and there are a good many of us in Pennsylvania & Ohio, and I have the same thoughts - we all must be related somehow, it is such a rare surname. I'm not sure if my Haubach family is anyway related to your Haubachs, but it is such a rare name, we've all got to be related somehow! :)

Like I said, I just started looking, and only know of the last couple generations. I know nothing of my great-grandparents.

My mother was Carol Sue Haubach, born in CA in 1944. Her parents were Mary E. Haubach, Born 1919 in OK(?) and Edward C. Haubach, Born in March, 1916, also in OK(?).

I really wish I had more, but with my mother deceased now, I don't have anywhere else to get info, except on the net. If anyone can trace down far enough, and come across my grandfather's name, please, let me know! :) Thank you!

Re: Haubach Ancestors

I just found this message about the name Haubach. I have a gr gr grandmother named Catharine Haubach. I have seen her name as Catharina Haubach on a passenger list. She came to America in 1853 from Bremen. The passenger list information says she was 50 years old and landed in New York, NY. I have a marriage record that a Catharine Haubach married Hermann Welmering in St. Lousi, MO on March 30, 1856. I believe she is the mother of my gr grandfather John L. Welmering who was born in March 1957. He had a sister named Julia or Julie. I wonder if Catharine Haubach could be related to Christian whose wife was named Maria Katharina Schaaf. I don't see how Catharina Haubach could have been 50 years old in 1853 and married in 1856 and had a baby in 1857 and another one after that. She would have been 57 years old when she had my gr grandfather. I wonder if the age was wrong on the passenger list. I don't know if she could be related to any of your ancestors or not.

Rare name

I'm beginning to believe that this is a very rare
name both here and in Germany. There is a street is Berlin,
an inn on the street, a stream, and a person who was part
of the resistance during World War II, Theodore Haubach. I don't
know if he's my relative, but I would be proud
to have him on my family tree. Is anyone else out there?

Haubach Surname

Glad to hear from you. My cousin and I have attempted to look up our family tree, but with only minor success.
Our family came from Fleisbach, Hessen-Nassau. The immigrant from whom we are descended came to the USA
about 1850. His name was Louis (Ludwig) Haubach. He was my gr-grandfather. He had only one son, my grandfather Christian Haubach.
He died in an accident when he was about 42 years old. My father was George Lewis Haubach. He died at 52 years from heart disease.
We have a cousin in Germany, Frank Haubach who lives near Fleisbach. Does any of this sound familiar to you? Do you have any
information as to whether everyone with a Haubach surname is related or are there several families? With such a rare name, it's
hard to believe that we are not all related. Keep in touch, I'll tell my cousin about you. Sandy

Haubach Ancestors

My gr-grandfather, Ludwig Haubach, was born 10 Dec 1825. His father was
Christian Haubach, born 18 Oct 1792 in Fleisbach. He had 5
children by 2 wives. Christian's parents were Johann Henrich Haubach
and Philippina Margarethe Walter, both from Fleisbach.

The wife of Christian from whom I am descended was Maria Katharina
Schaaf, born 17 Jul 1798. The cousin I mentioned who is living
in Fleisbach is descended from Christian's other wife. He is descended from
his son, David Haubach.

That's about all we know about our family in Germany. Please feel free
to email me at sfna@mindspring.com. It is great to hear from you. I'm
sure we are all connected. I'll let my cousin know about this communication
so she can read it. I'll be looking forward to hearing from you. Hope it
will be soon. Happy Thanksgiving.

Hi Sandy Jaques,
my name is Juergen Haubach and I live in the U.S. since 1985. Besides Chicago where I reside now,I lived in Hawaii and California, and out of curiosity looked up every major telephone book in every major city that I traveled too for the last name HAUBACH,but could never find one.
As far as I know, the name HAUBACH as rare as it is, is likely the most known in Germany in a area around Herborn or Dillenburg where there is even a large brewery by the name of HAUBACH.I have realy no idea how big the HAUBACH family tree is,or if there is ever a 'HAUBACH'get together? Would be interesting to find out about that.
If you have anymore news, please share.

P.S.Didn't know of an inn or a stream.
