WAPELLO, Iowa -- Belva Hayes, 90, Wapello, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002, at the Wapello Nursing and Rehab Center, Wapello.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello. The Rev. Harlan W. Winter will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by organist Bev Parsons. Pallbearers are Douglas Paris, Allan Paris, Richard Paris, Nile Hayes, Chad Hayes and Corey Husak. Honorary pallbearers are Harlan Hayes, Robert Huff, Charles Huff and Kenneth McChesney. Burial will be at Wapello Cemetery, Wapello.
Visitation is after noon Tuesday, with the family present 6:30-7:30 p.m., at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established to benefit various charitable organizations.
Mrs. Hayes was born on Dec. 6, 1911, near Newport, the daughter of Charles and Vergie Strickler Hamilton. She married Sumner Hayes on Nov. 20, 1930, in Cattril. He preceded her in death Nov. 4, 1989.
She spent her early years in the Newport area and attended Bethel, Newport and Victory schools.
She graduated from Morning Sun High School in 1930.
She was a homemaker and farmed with her husband near Oakville and then moved to rural Wapello.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Wapello, and a 50-year member of the Derexa Rebekah Lodge, Wapello. She was a former member of the Jefferson Circle and had attended Women's Farm Bureau.
She enjoyed crocheting and quilting and was a member of the Colonial Quilting Club.
She enjoyed and hosted many family gatherings.
She was a resident of the Wapello Nursing and Rehab Center since September 1998.
Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Paris and her husband, Bill, and Marilyn Lynch and her husband, Duane, all of Wapello; a son, Milton Hayes of Wapello; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother and two sisters.

MOUNT CARMEL, Calif. -- Winifred Ruth Hayes, 87, Mount Carmel, formerly of Johnson County, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at Sunbridge Care & Rehab, San Diego, Calif., after a lengthy illness.
Graveside services are 12:30 p.m. Friday at Indian Creek Cemetery, Columbus Junction.
Visitation is 10 a.m.-noon Friday at the Jones-Eden Funeral Home, 118 E. Main, Washington.
Mrs. Hayes was born on Jan. 23, 1915, in Iowa, the daughter of Grover Cleveland and Effie Strong Fountain. She married Arthur Hayes. He preceded her in death in 1989.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include sons, Art Hayes of Prole and Ron Hayes of Davenport; a daughter, Kim Hayes of Poway, Calif.; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Lorene Bishop of Beaverton, Ore., Phyllis Fry of Moline, Ill., Ruby McGowan of Iowa City and Joyce Snyder of Columbus Junction.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters, Beaulah Boedman, Fern Fountain and Doris Howard; and three brothers, Lovell Fountain, Darrell Fountain and Grover Fountain Jr.

Mrs. Hayes was born Oct. 3, 1906, in Newport, the daughter of Elmer E. and Bertha B. Hamilton Campbell. She married Oran L. Hayes on Jan. 10, 1931, in Centerville. He preceded her in death Sept. 29, 1986.
She attended Victory School and also Burlington Business College. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the UMW in Wapello and the Good Will Club of Toolesboro. She enjoyed her home, its activities and the family times.
Survivors include a son, Harlan E. Hayes and wife Barbara of Wapello; a daughter-in-law, Rose Mary Hayes of Iowa City; a grandson, Brian Hayes and wife Tammy of Columbus Junction; three granddaughters, Diane Thayer and husband Brad of Iowa City, Connie Millson and husband Andy of Iowa City and Brenda Runge and husband Jeff of Monmouth, Ill.; seven great-grandchildren, Nate, Austin and Jared Hayes, Zachary and Gina Thayer and Job and Noah Runge; and a niece, Joan Graham Brown of Stanwood.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Elmer D. Hayes; a brother, John Campbell; a sister, Lea Graham; and a nephew, Ronald M. Campbell.

Earnest E. Hays, 72, Aledo, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island, Ill.
His body will be cremated.
Mr. Hays was born May 8, 1934, in Pike County, Ill., the son of Cecil and Dorothy Hadsell Hays. He married Beverly J. Bivens on Dec. 8, 1954, in Tampa, Fla.
He received his education from the Aledo schools.
He was an U.S. Air Force veteran, serving from 1953-66. He was a self-employed electrician and TV repairman, retiring in 1977 due to ill health.
He enjoyed woodworking, making clocks and fishing.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Vickie Fickel and husband Herb of Milan, Ill., Debbie Skovack of North Carolina, Pamela Combs and husband Billy of Casselberry, Fla. and Tricia Hays and Craig Chandler of Muscatine; six granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joan Long of Davenport and Jean Crump of Bettendorf; and two brothers, Paul Hays of Folcroft, Pa. and Arthur Hays of Macomb, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bill.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Eddie was born on November 18, 1922, in Muscatine, the son of Charles and Florence Reeves Hayes. He married Edith M. Pace Longstreth on October 10, 1960, in Raton, New Mexico.
He was a veteran of the US Army serving during World War II in the European Theater.
He was a truck driver for Roadway all of his life.
He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Teamsters, and the American Legion Post 27.
Eddie enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and gardening. He especially loved his grandkids.
Survivors include his wife, Edith M. 'Edee' Hayes of Muscatine; two sons, Gary L. Longstreth of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Ed. I. Longstreth and wife, Karla, of Muscatine; seven grandchildren, LeAnn, Kelly, Kim, Greg, Lance, Jason, and Lyndsey; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Lloyd W. Hayes and one sister, Mary Cutler.

OAKVILLE, Iowa — William LeRoy ‘Bill’ Hayes, 74, of Oakville, died Wednesday September 17, 2008, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2008, at the Solid Rock Baptist Church, Wapello. Rev. Dan Doolin will officiate. Burial will follow at the Edwards Cemetery at Oakville.
Friends and family will gather for a lunch and fellowship at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, September 20, 2008, at the church. The Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello, is providing the care and arrangements for Bill Hayes.
Mr. Hayes was born September 17, 1934, the son of William and Nettie Marlette Hayes, in Oakville. He married Donna Mae Wagg on June 7, 1958, in Oakville. She preceded him in death on July 3, 1995.
He graduated from Oakville High School. He worked for Kuntz’s Sawmill Service for many years. Later he worked with his son in construction of installation of cross country fiber optics.
He had served in the Marines during the Korean Conflict.
He enjoyed turtle trapping, fishing, hunting, and his Cocker Spaniel dogs.
He is survived by his children, Dean Hayes of Oakville, James and Joyce Hayes of Letts, Joe Paul Hayes of Oakville, Lisa Tramen of Fort Madison, and Adella Belokopitives of Oakville; 18 grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; and two sisters, Beverly and Norm Tweed of Columbus Junction, and Ivanelle Maree ‘Ivy’ Wagg of Muscatine.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna; two sons, Jerry and an infant son, Stephen; two brothers, Richard and his infant twin, Warren; two half brothers, Everett and Arthur; and a half sister, Velma.

He graduated from Wapello High School in 1955. He served in the U.S. Navy. He worked at Champion Spark Plugs in Burlington and was a rural mail carrier and had farmed.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church and the UEW Local. He loved hunting and fishing and following his granddaughters and their activities.
He is survived by his wife, Jane of Wapello; a son, Russ Hayes of Mount Pleasant; a daughter, Julie Schwenker of Wapello; three granddaughters, Sally, Maya, and Jenny; three brothers, Howard Hayes of Milwaukee, Wis., and Bill Hayes and Doug Hayes, both of Arkansas; two sisters, Kay Adkinson of Roseville, Ill., and Cheryl Enger of Wever.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2008, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Pastor Gertie Nichols will officiate. Private burial will be in Krell Cemetery, rural Muscatine County.

Robert was born on May 27, 1926, in Muscatine, the son of James and Katherine M. Paul Hayes.
He worked as a small engine mechanic for Coyner’s Marina, and later for Timm Marina where he was known as ‘Motorboat Bob’.
He enjoyed fixing and collecting small engines and radios. He had a large collection of Delco type lightplants, and one of the largest collections of antique radios in the country. He was also interested in flying and dirigibles.
Survivors include two cousins, Don Paul and wife, Lynne, of Muscatine, and Nancy Pagel of Muscatine.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the New Boston Masonic Lodge No. 59 AF & AM.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, sports and bird watching.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Angie Henderson and husband Gary of New Boston; a son, Roy Pritchett of Keithsburg, Ill.; granddaughters, Carrie Ham and husband Joey of New Boston and Heather Pritchett of Aledo; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bill Hays and wife Sheila of Matherville, Harvey 'Gene' Hays of North Carolina and James Hays and wife Vivian of St. Joseph, Mo.; a sister, Lois Peterson of Matherville. He was preceded in death by his parents.
