My direct ancestor is Jacques Piedblanc Henri, b. 1745, son of Henri-Henry-Jacques and Marie-Josephe Garand. It's a mystery why Piedblanc entered the Henri family: Speculation was that there was native blood, but I've not been able to discern any. They were not from Maniwake, at least that I know of. For complete genealogy, see my database on RootsWeb.

Hello
Thanks for getting back to me there is Pied-Blanc in Manwaki Quebec and it is from Indian blood my daughter and I are doing this search together and she came across baptizim records from the church in Manawki for my father John Alexander Henri born Sept.15/1925 Died June 17/1973 his father was Pierre Pied-Blanc Henri and his father was Paul Pied-Blanc Henri died 1926 and his father was Pierre Pied-Blanc Henri birth Jan 04 1828 and his father was Louies Pied-Blanc Henri that is what we have for now. My daughter said that way back when the name Pied-Blanc was used it means (White Foot) that it was there indian name and because of all the things they went through back then that they thought it was better to change the name to Henri.
This is what we have learned it is a Indian name. Please let me know if any of the names you have found have matched with our
Thank you

Hi there. I just came across your posting while looking for my Piedblanc Henri family. I am really having difficulty tracing the origin and info about my GG grandmother Martine dit Piedblanc Henri Jacques. I do not have any understand about the Piedblanc name, although I saw somewhere that it was the name of a village. Any info you might have would be appreciated. Thanks a bunch.

Hello
The only thing that I came across in my search was that my fathers ggg grandfather was Pied-Blanc and back then there was a lot of Discrimination against the Indians back then it was so bad that he decided to change it to Henri then for some reason my father when he left Maniwaki Quebec to come to Toronto Ontario Canada he changed his last name from Henri to Henry I think the Indians were still been Discriminated back in the 50's when my dad changed his last name. I hope this helps you I have a lot of unanswered questions myself my father passed away when he was 47 and his brother is gone all so.
I am still searching best of luck in your search.

Can you tell me if you are from Quebec Canada I have so many family out there that I don't know so just wondering about you.

Hi there. Thanks for your reply. I still don't understand the indian connection, do you have any of the history on that? Yes, my family is also from Quebec but I live in Alberta. My paternal grandfather left his family in Quebec in the late 1800's for Manitoba where I am from. His mother was Martine Piedblanc Henri and her father was Toussaint Piedblanc Henri Jacques, his father was Louis Michel Piedblanc Henri Jacques. Any connection with you so far? Where do you live?

Hi well the Pied-Blanc is from an Indian reservation in Manwaki Quebec do you know if you have Indian in you all so.

None of those names match what I have but from what I understand back then around 1800 the Indians were known to have a lot of children the men took many wife's my ggg grandfather had 25 children maybe more. So I could not tell you if we could be related or not. Have you asked your parents about the history of your family what do you know so far.

I live in Toronto Ontario Canada what is your full name if possible mine is Evelyn Henry.

Hi again. My full name is Kimberlee Millejours-Roberts. I decided to keep my maiden name when I married. My mother's name is also Evelyn. None of my family has any information about the family members from Quebec. My grandfather died in 1954 and took that information with him. At the time I guess nobody was that interested in knowing the history. So I have had to do everything myself. The earliest name I have for the Piedblanc's is "Andre Jacques Piedblac Henry, born 1745 in St. Roch de L'Achigan QC, died 1810 and married Marie Anne Louisneau born 1740 QC. I have not been able to find any information about them though. There was always a family rumour that we did have native blood in us through the female line. Which does make sense for this line. I also have a couple of women in my tree who there isn't any information for, which makes me wonder if they are native and records weren't kept or what? This is such a mystery.
